5:45 AM, Level 9 Clouds, Summer Heat Preset does the trick!
Russian hardware runs even better with less hardware on it…
My friend has joined the DCS gang and its been wonderful flying with him
He was actually my first flying instructor and got me through my PPL!! its pretty awesome teaching him the nuances of DCS. his flying is already better than mine. got a 2 wire his first trap in the hornet. He loves it
oh and here is @Franze making it look just so professionally done!!
I like it how @Franze is climbing up towards a low flying helo, shooting.
A bit like that old story about Yeager having a bird strike on a low level training sortie and how the ground crew asked him, after extracting the bird and some branches and leaves off his wing, whether the bird was still in its nest when he hit it…
Got waayyy more than I bargained for in the Harrier for those flights! Was a 4v1 in enemy territory and had MiG-29s hitting the brakes to stay with me, then I hit the nozzles back and he still tried to slow down with me. Got some 25mm into him as he passed by but not enough to kill him, then I clipped a tree.

Beating @WreckingCrew’s Ira’Dib with @AndyE – A-10A and F/A-18C. The A-10A has Mk20s by default and apparently they’re more effective than CBU-87s. Made quite a highway of death! Partly because I over-G’d on pullout and ripped the wings off.
A Navy guy stationed here in Japan has been wanting to get into DCS, so I’ve been showing him the ropes online recently. Riding in the back of the Tomcat is super fun until the pilot crashes you into a building
Nice Transformer skin. Friend of mine made that actually…
From a few nights ago when myself and @Franze were flying our recently acquired Bf 109’s…
I went on a really low level, shallow angle run to strafe a line of Mustangs and got hit by some flak, killing the pilot instantly. The aircraft managed to belly land, bounce, dip a wing which partially snapped off, bank and careen through a fence, knock down a power line and then crash into the nearby woods.
Sounds ridiculous right?
As @Franze said, the greatest damage was the allies lost the power to run the projector for movie night…
Hit 'em where it hurts!
Testing out new Fw-190A-8 skin with @Wes on HPN running Thorn Falaise tonight:
Wes got in a 1v2, a Spitfire and a P-51 against his 190; he took a ton of hits before I got there. Both fell prey to my cannons, after which we high tailed out but not before taking down another P-51.
I landed fine, but Wes had lots of trouble, with few functioning systems. No flaps meant a high landing speed.
I took a few glancing blows which is why I did the repair, but Wes went right through the fence and flipped.
Total for tonight: 13 for me, 8 for Wes, with one airframe written off. Not a bad showing!
I got eight? I stopped checking after I lost nearly all my instruments, flaps (but the motor worked…once) and landing gear (emergency handle worked).
So the entire landing attempt I had no idea my engine power, prop RPM, artificial horizon broken, bank indicator broken (slip indicator worked), had no idea if my speedo was correct as it seemed to refuse to go down and stall speeds didn’t match…
I actually was trying to collapse the gear on touch down but the darn thing just takes the abuse! When that didn’t work I tried to cause a skid so I could use engine power to slow down by pulling laterally or even reverse (which I had done in a previous botched take-off) but that also didn’t work.
While I could have ran for a larger runway, I knew I was low on gas but guess what - my fuel gauge had also failed…
In the fight I knew I was doomed - the AI with such ridiculous energy retention allowed them to out climb, turn, and out run me - and there was two of them each alternating between being on my 6 and trying a slashing attack. As a sitting duck, I attempted to keep up speed and a wide turn and just kick rudder or make a reversal which thwarted nearly all of their attacks. The 190 absorbed the few bursts they managed to hit with.
No ignition key?
Let wags tell you, the training missions are great
Push it. Gimme a hand and we get him up and rolling quick enough!
