I tried out the MiG-19 a bit, have barely flown that bird. Goodness, what a hotrod! Fun!
I fought the instant mission against two F-5ās. Rather than commit to a turning fight straight away, I decided to go for a climbing orbit and see what the F-5ās would do.
The F-5 pair didnāt react that well to my wingman and I being up high - they managed to get separated from each other in the mountainous terrain, allowing me to position for a gentle unloaded dive for a rear aspect IR missile shot:
I lit the cans and reassumed a climb, ordering my wingman to engage the other F-5, who was down below and behind us, trying to catch up to us. My plan was to get out of phase with him as my wingman kept him busy and repeat my missile trick. It didnāt quite work out - my wingman managed to shoot him down before I had a shot! Ah well, one for each of us, I guess.
We landed back at Nalchik and raided the anti freeze cupboard in celebration.

It really is a fun aircraft to fly. It is actually one of my all time favorites to just experiment with dogfighting etc. Something about it.

The MiG 19 still sits in my hangar pretty much untouched. I am looking forward to getting into this bird but want to finish the Kursant campaign first (slow progress though so I am risking the MiG 17 gets across this plan (which I would not mind tbh )).

The training and campaign for the 19 are quite exceptional. @Baltic_Dragon obviously had fun doing what heās great at making those. Too bad they had to tone the accent down

The 19 is my favourite Russian bird to fly. Its in the sweet spot of not trying to kill me every time I go fast like the 15 and not trying to kill me because Iām going to slow like the 21.
Itās smooth ride, great power and fairly benign handling make it a pleasure, its a nice stable gun platform as well. Plus she is utterly gorgeous
