That was awesome. Loved the tune
3 wire, neat!
Where this video was posted should have been a dead giveaway but I thought I was watching the real deal for far too long.
Wheels
Was actually a terrible 4-wire
I came in really low in the groove and should have gone around, but forced it and ballooned over the ramp, and spammed the DLC.
Still better than most of my traps.
That is pretty sweet!
Even after playing dcs for a fair time, I am still amazed by how realistic it can look … I genuinely thought the thumbnail was a real aircraft
Absolutely superb video and audio editing skills.
I had left VF-32 about 6 months before this occurred. I knew all 4 aircrew. You hear one callsign on the tape, “Munster” - like the Munster’s TV show - the pilot of the wingman F-14. I don’t know the sensitivity of saying the other three callsigns, and of course not their real names. The guy running the intercept had been my direct boss for a while as was the other RIO. Both pretty good guys. The lead pilot was really great stand-up guy.
I can’t really talk about the tactics employed…well, obviously they worked…sufficient to say that we had thought about this situation well beforehand. You may recall that a couple of years earlier a Libyan Fitter had gotten a shot off at a pair of F-14’s in the same general area. The missile went stupid but if it hadn’t…anyhow, we. took the threat seriously and planned accordingly.
My only criticism of the video is that at the time, VF-32 jets sported the 200 series side numbers…let the accusatory shouts of “rivet counter” begin.
Seriously, a great video!
“Shoot them until they die” is a legit strategy, everyone knows that!
Which in DCS terms would mean ripple fire all six Phoenix on 1 target at 100 miles and RTB.
I’m not going to play if your going to criticise me
