Two weeks!
The Jug sounds like no machine you own. There are a dozen other reasons to own it. But just listening to it is worth $35!
My question is: is “The Channel” worth it? I’ve heard it’s a struggle in VR so I passed.
Well, you know my answer will always be yes, it’s worth it, so don’t listen to me!
The channel map is where my frames suffer the most. But it keeps getting better, I think. Can’t quantify that statement, but now it’s flyable…
Same here, I’ve left Syria and the channel for performance reasons. I’d love to try them but I really feel it would be a waste of limited spending money at present.
Syria works pretty well for me now. I struggled at first but starting a couple of updates ago, I feel that it has improved somewhat. (VR default settings)
syria gives me ok performance, but looks soooo nice … and has so many great points of interest
Getting ready to try out 2.7 for the first time.
Yes. I don’t have any VR issues with it, and it looks amazing. Especially with the new clouds. I almost exclusively play either Syria or Channel these days.
On that note, I’m still finding a lot of frustration on 2.7. Dealing with Oculus Link issues because their software just can’t run well, switching over to Virtual Desktop for wireless and spending hours tweaking that, then having random issues like minimizing the server freezing AI units in mid-air…80% of my flights this weekend have been aborted because of one technical issue or another.
Could be used with a white skin as a Vietnam Sandy in a modern mission over Vietnam
It gets my vote, more going on down low than Normandy newer building tools. It also runs nicely, at least as well as Syria and Normandy imo
So, I’d commented above about my performance results with 2.7. I’d said I saw no diff. using a shader mod. Seems I wasn’t using the same one as before. And, I actually was seeing about 20% decrease in performance (ick) but didn’t want to comment on that until I’d done some more looking. Anway…
Kegety’s mod is the one that works best for me (somehow I’d grabbed an IC-compatible one and it does nothing for my system).
This one:
…recently re-released for 2.7, is helping again. For those of you like me who can’t find a new card at a reasonable price and are stuck in the 1000x series, this should help:
It’s good Kegetys updated his mod to 2.7, as he’s the original author. Are you sure it is IC ok though? If would be great if it is.
Kegetys current shader mod is not IC compliant. But it does improve fps quite a bit
However, speed of heat has an IC compliant shader mod variant of Kegetys:
I recommend clearing out your fxo and metashaders before launching DCS.
That’s the one that was edited from the 2.6 one to work, but Kegetys just updated his Thursday so it might be better? I’ll try it just taking out the IC failures tomorrow and see.
Yeah… Didn’t think he would. Great that he did, though!
Hmm I’ll have to try the new one. I tried Kegetys’ updated 2.7 shaders and I didn’t get any better performance out of it. Got 20-minute load-ins instead
Was that Kegetys updated shaders, or his 2.5 shaders where some other guy cut out the shaders that didn’t work?
Good question, I don’t recall. I do recall it had only four or so files in the bazar folder.
Looks like he updated his mod on thursday.
Edit. Looks like speed-of-heat updated his modded mod just after Kegetys did.
