DCS 2.7 Discussion

@Troll I switch back and forth quite a bit with no issues, but 1) I only use the editor in 2D and 2) I switch using the “—no VR” comment on the executable properties. (Something like that…I am not at home). Actually, I have two executables on my desktop; one for VR and one for 2D. For pixel density, I don’t use the slider in DCS settings. I use the Oculus Diagnostic Tool at 1.4.

Here you go

"X:\Games\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" --force_disable_VR

Thanks just saw we had an update when I started DCS

I have done so in the past as well… Been a while since last time now, though. I don’t know, maybe I did something ‘clever’ that messed things up too. I have been changing settings quite a lot since 2.7 dropped.

Keeping two exes is a good idea. Will do that.
Does the VR exe need a tag line too…?

I use @SkateZilla app to open it in 2d. Obviously I have to go do the steam vr start for vr

Do you use the Steam version of DCS?

I just start DCS and Steam VR comes on automatically.

You mean just two short-cut’s - yep, looks like this, with the first bit in " quotes "

I blame @smokinhole! He said executables.

Does the VR ex…short…cut…have a force VR on, or something like that?

@Troll I think @Cib just means that the name of the button to start with VR in @SkateZilla’s tool is called ‘Steam VR’.

No I added DC’s as a non steam game as this is what all the videos said to do :+1:

Might be of interest to VR Users getting Random Crashes in DCS

For a while now I’ve been getting the annoying “Window Out of Focus” message when in VR and trying to click certain menu’s in DCS.

And for just as long I’ve been getting Bad random crashes in DCS during certain missions.I did a bit of searching and came across this thread in The DCS forums
https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/226605-window-is-out-of-focus/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-4602768
Basically before going into VR you should try and minimize any open windows you have on screen…or at least place them on the bottom of your screen so as not to interfere with your clickspots when your in VR.
Hope this will help some of you as much as it’s helped me.

Thanks for that. Also, possibly, maximize the window (Alt + Enter I believe). I’ve been doing this for the last several sessions and, knock on wood, no crashes.

@Troll sorry for my use of the wrong terms. I wish the world was more like Linux and less like MS but that’s not the world I live in.

My DCS has the VR box checked (on) in settings. So to get VR nothing needs to be forced as this is the default. Only the 2D SHORTCUT needs to be forced.

(Sigh) Nothing seems to work for me . I have moved my toolbar , and always minimise all windows .
Funny thing is , i can fly for days with no problem , and then get it again , usually when pulling out of a dive
Been thinking of getting a joystick emulator , so i can bind a button to alt-tab , but i’m reluctant to add to my current workload of learning Realistic ATC and the DCS Supercarrier , adapting attack profiles to the new clouds , ground radar , etc , etc , etc .
Feel like i’m back at school , waiting to get my knuckles rapped .
This thought just occurred to me-turn off notifications ??
