- Weapons. Corrected ranges of Kh-31P ARM missile and Kh-31A anti ship missile.
- Weapons. AIM-120. Fixed tracking issues due to wrong reference range gate choice when target locked.
- Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Combat AI Improvements:
- Available BVR tactics and skill of execution is highly dependent upon AI Skill Level setting.
- Added timer for missile evasive manoeuvres when notching. This better allows the AI to defeat a radar operating in Memory (MEM) mode.
- AI will use airspeed and altitude based on Skill Level to optimise missile launch kinematics. It will try to be fast and high.
- AI will maximise distance between aircraft and target at time of missile impact, based on Skill Level, by using offsets (crank) and reduced airspeed.
- Based on Skill Level, AI will appropriately use lead, pure, and lag intercept geometry.
- AI will use a low slice in an offset/crank manoeuvre to force an incoming missile into denser air, provide the AI more manoeuvrability, and force hostile radar into a look-down.
- Based on Skill Level, AI will use different defensive manoeuvres such as look down clutter notch and reversal/extensions.
- AI will randomly use the direction of offsets (cranks) and notches.
- Use chaff when the missile is 60 degrees off the nose. This allows the AI to use chaff more effectively when abeam of the threat radar.
- Aircraft without radar guided missiles will not climb and accelerate to intercept the enemy.
- AI aircraft. Decreased ground impact probability into hard manoeuvring.
- Su-34. KMGU-2 racks restored.
- Graphics. MSAA x4 breaks secondary shadows - fixed.
- Fixed crash during request if JTAC will be destroyed.

DCS: Mi-24P Hind by Eagle Dynamics
- Added: Anti-torque pedals trim options Can choose between:
- Instant Trim (does not read input for 0.5 sec. after trim button is pressed)
- Central Position Trimmer Mode (does not read input until physical pedals axis returned to center)
- Added: Anti-torque pedals automatic microswitch options. Can choose between:
- Disable by setting pedal axis to neutral (This logic was built in module before, it engages microswitch as soon as yaw axis is deflected from neutral position)
- Enable/Disable by presence/absence of pedal movement (this logic is added and it activates microswithing only for duration of pedal axis movement, deactivates it when axis stop moving)
- Automatic Microswitch Off (disables any automatic pedals microswitch logic, control is only manual)
- Added: Anti-torque pedals microswitch button bind (this bind allows manual control of pedals microswitch which will set heading autopilot channel to standby/adjust mode while it is pressed)
- Added: Anti-torque Pedals Trimmer Button options (Unlike Mi-8, real Mi-24P pedals don’t trim with cyclic trim button. In DCS trim for pedals is made for convenience):
- Cyclic Trimmer Button (T) (Pressing Cyclic trim button will also trim virtual pedals axis, keyboard “T” by default)
- Pedals Microswitch Button (Y) (Pressing pedals microswitch button will also trim virtual pedals axis, keyboard “Y” by default)

Any AI improvements are welcome, and greatly appreciated!
I’ve always noticed they appeared to mirror your altitude when going nose-to-nose. Never really looked at this corner of the AI performance in depth however.
Now, when I can tell highlight[1] a ground target say, and tell BOT 2/3/4 to “Hit that”, and they do, they will become more useful.
[1] since it’s a difficult thing to do - describe an object to an algorithm (in the ME you have access to the units specific ID, not so much inside the sim) - I see no issue with having a ‘selector’-like cursor used to help them find it (in a WWII context you don’t have fancy gizmo’s like LANTIRN pods/RADARS etc), then:
Hit a key; dot appears centered in your FOV; hit another key; they respond, “two’s in hot”, for instance. Generally speaking the process for you, the player, to pick something out is already in there (LANTIRN pods/RADARS, etc).
And if it was friendly, cus I misidentified it, they came back with, “are you sure, boss?” (depending on their skill level) - that would be nice too.
That is a double grocery list of fixes!
Wheels
Indeed!
But I can’t help but wonder what it will do to all the existing missions and campaigns…
Good question. In the long run it’s a good thing I believe.
It’s “driving the nail home” that I want the AI to be able to do, competently.
Mission makers then only have to give them a hammer (which comes with a bag of nails), tell them what to nail and when to do it (which can get complicated but it’s high level enough that most mission builders can do something interesting - ‘artistic’ with it). Then sit back and watch.
Right now they often drop the hammer before even getting to the worksite.
Oh yes, definitely!
But it is sort of a curse of this ever evolving project that is DCS. New development often cause problems for old content.
But maybe the new AI can co-exist with the old?
Yeah, I guess I’m just frustrated with it lately. It’s causing me to do a lot of extra work just to figure out under what, exact, circumstances/state, I need to have them in to get results that don’t hose it all up.
I think what would be most helpful is some documentation on the AI so we don’t spend a LOT of time figuring out what works and what doesn’t. If they did this then fixing the old stuff should take less time.
See my post about AI and formation keeping. Spent hours (and hours) guessing at that one. Eventually I created a system to work around it - in this instance it would handle smarter AI without any editing. Would have just taken me many fewer days to come up with it at the start.
Thanks we are aware, the BVR work was for singletons first and groups will come later. - BIGNEWY
If this works as intended, that would be so awesome! I have been dreaming of multi-crew tank sniping in a light helicopter for years but all the bugs made it impossible.
Who wants to try it out with me?
Sorry missed this.
On holidays for a week but will definitely do it when im back! Love my gazelle

Wow!
I almost didn’t think I’d ever read that!
Does that mean that aircraft landing/search lights are finally lighting up water, too? That would be exciting!
Uhm, I honestly don’t read that note they way you did…
Yeah, I was being a bit facetious there.
The train of thought is:
- they fixed a bug with overly strong reflections
→ that couldn’t exist if there are no reflections
→ they have changed something on how the reflections work
→ they might have finally fixed the bug I have been complaining about since 2016 or so since it totally ruins flying low over water at night.
I am joking about myself grasping at straws there.
This one, to us scripting types, may be a biggy. Personally I’ve had to work around this (among many things)…not working. I think this is a long standing issue. Will see.
Related | At the timestamp below they touch on what has been a constant frustration…makes me feel better in that I’m not imagining these issues:
Got this link from from here I think (can’t find the OP). It’s a little old but good stuff. The section starting about 3hr 6mins in is fascinating. Heat Blur interview on making the F-14.
“Deep Geek” stuff here.
Really makes you appreciate the depth of this module (and others). You might say they are the PMDG of DCS - having the choice to go that deep is endless fun. To me.
The first two hours are good too.
