DCS 2.7.X Screenshots (2021)

Doing some more patrolling in the clouds. It just floors me every time I fly DCS with the new clouds I’m in awe.

Oooooo where is that dirt strip amongst the trees? Your earlier post inspired me to hunt the entire Syria map, but I only found Golan Heights and Al Al to be suitable for fixed wing. I found a mountaintop strip SSE of Beiruit, but the severe incline on the strip makes it helo-only.

Challenge intensifies and
Harrier sulks dejectedly

Wait a tick, I wonder if that Marston mat mod still works…

Did some slingin’ and some Yakkin’

Been spending more time with the JF-17. This is really a very cool module. Neat little plane. Very short on legs without the external tanks but a lot of fun toys to play with for Red side. Here I’m a Chinese pilot guarding the newly won Marianna’s Islands and am out on my way to the training range to bomb some stationary targets while we await the Americans to attempt to retake the islands.

This was a new skin I found the other day.

Here are the 4 I’ve found so far.
The strip amongst the tree is the one at the very top of the pics, just North of the border.

I saw that illtop strip Beirut, it’s a shame it’s unusable as it looks quite challenging.

If interested, here’s the mission with the 4 strips:

Golan Market

it uses a bunch of mods:

And here’s a version without mods:
Golan Market - No Mods

I wanted to make an Air Hauler/FSE type of mission with randomly generated cargo mission between the various strips. It’s still very WIP but most of the framework is in place.
Oh and the idea was to make a smuggler mission. You’re not exactly a law abiding citizen and thus if you fly above 800m ASL the ATC is going to take notice and will try to get in touch with you to know what’s going on.
If you remain silent they will dispatch a couple of L39 to intercept you and if you fail to comply with them or make sudden manoeuvers, you will be shot down. So stay low

And here are the static objects liveries for those interested:
Static Objects liveries
Just drop the various folders in “Saved Games\DCS\Liveries”, it works just like any other livery for aircraft or ground units.

Even for a Yak-52?

Yes, unfortunately the terrain is too uneven. It’s possible to land there but I’ve never been able to take off again.

My favorite looking bird…

I tried the Yak there. Once I hit that incline the nose gear got slammed into a 50% retracted state. Couldn’t raise or lower it.

Anton time. Replay tracks in all the WW2 birds does not like diving maneuvers, apparently. They consistently desync in a dive. If I avoid dives, they replay perfectly. So weird.

I really wish ED would take some time and fix the track replay system. I know they have a boatload of other priorities but the current replay system is so broke it’s practically useless. I used to make movies for the fun of it, but I don’t anymore soley because my tracks do not play back correctly.

Have you tried one of the other 3rd party programs instead?

Server tracks work just fine, actually. The client tracks are where it gets weird.

I wished they fixed their netcode, because the server tracks have issues too. Even over LAN I get wheels sinking into tarmac on takeoff/landing, weird control surface movements, weapon position desync, missing animations, etc.

Ooof another desync. On the plus side, I’m really enjoying the Anton in the A2G role. I might try ASW next but I have a feeling I’ll frag myself if there’s no delayed fusing.

Which third party programs?

I’m primarily operating in single player.

I’m flying as a lead for a section of Canadian Hornets on our way to sink some Iranian cargo ships.
