Yeah I know I’m always super excited about literally anything but thinking about this…
This could allow the deploy of a map with ease- relatively so of course- of almost anything.
Even if it was about releasing a coarse first version and then slowly refining it…
Nice.
Also if anyone would be willing to beta-test the addons before the release just let me know!
Nothing in particular is expected from you, just play around report issues if you found any
I’m normally not a REDFOR person but the Su-27 has me kinda hooked. Along with the rest of the FC3 jets when I’m finished with work, on brain-stem power, and only have 45 minutes to light some fires.
The flight model is as awesome as any of the full fidelity modules, and it feels a bit like an F-14, but lighter and more dangerous.
The best part about learning the Flanker is discovering how absurdly versatile it is: it can even use high-caliber rockets and all kinds of dumb bombs, and then there’s carrier landings and aerial refuelling in the Su-33.
I’m with Schurem on this one. I don’t usually fly Red, but lately have been taking clandestine flights in the MiG-29 in VR. Wow, what a cool fighter. I’m sure the the Flanker is more versatile, but the Fulcrum makes me feel like a badass.
The versions in the game are both the A2A versions. They CAN do ground attack stuff, but it’s like dropping bombs in the F-14A or F-15A/C…very limited use cases.
They did make multirole Flankers and Fulcrums in the 21st century (the 90s ones never really entered production) but we don’t have those as flyable (although we can shoot down or escort some of them).
I’d like a MiG-29SMT or Su-27SM or one of their contemporaries.
Impressive turn rate if you can manage to get this slippery thing to slow down. The only issue I’m having with the REDFOR jets are the gimped weapons. R-77s are basically trash. 34k ft at Mach 1+ and a 10k ft altitude advantage, RMAX is a paltry 20nm. Then they decelerate like a brick and are easily defeated. Only good for distractions to force the opponent on the defensive. Same for the R-27ER: impressive range, but SARH so you’re a sitting duck for AMRAAMs if you press to impact. R-73s are god mode. If your opponent doesn’t see them. Otherwise they go for the first flare they see. Best bet seems to be the R-27ET+EO sensor combo if you can manage to stay low and hidden without running out of gas. I’m really surprised at the short legs of the Fulcrum and Flanker.
Fulcrum never goes anywhere without the belly tank, and you must be very judicious in use of burner. If you’re using it for takeoffs, don’t. Shouldn’t need it and it just guzzles. It’s basically got the same legs as the Hornet.
As for the Flanker, there’s no way it has short legs. They waited decades to give it IFR or external tanks because it can carry enough internally to fly from Moscow to London! So double check how much fuel you’re taking off with because that thing has as much as as F-15 with all external tanks I think, like 22000 lbs.
Now be aware at over 1/2 full it flies like an airliner, so you won’t be impressing with turns, but it will fly a long way.
The Flanker really requires you to pay attention to your fuel loading in missions given how much it can hold internally. I’m not a huge fan of that, but it’s part of what makes it interesting to fly.
