I think I’ll be joining the side where I’m least likely to get shot down
I do that too - it’s called Spectators. It’s a bit passive but so far I never lost a plane.
That’ll be the Germans again according to the statistics. Around 100hrs less flighttime than the allies but almost double the kills xD
Target rich environment and all that. Unfortunately there is less coordination and much more useless chatter on allied comms in my experience. Not sure why but maybe it’s because a lot of new players start out with allied aircraft like the P-51 or Spitfire which is fair enough given that the German planes are a bit harder to get used to and employ effectively in a dogfight.
Flown correctly with a good wingman an Anton can be incredibly effective with its four 20mm cannons though. It absolutely shreds enemy aircraft. On its own it’s a sitting duck though.
Time for me to get back in the Anton then
On SoW you need a wingman though. Otherwise it’s not fun if any allies are around
But yeah, the Anton is fun. I also love the P-47D, it’s like an enourmous american truck. Very fast, incredible turn performance when fast but it’s hard to manage the energy but that’s something I struggle with a lot in the heat of things.
Edit: Watching my video I see so many mistakes
Sometimes I should have followed someone else, managed my energy better, not wasted my 30mm at range etc.
Laobi’s first look at the DCS Syria map. This video is intended to provide a look at the map and an outline of the main players to hopefully give mission makers some food for thought.
He does a superb job with the history through comedy.
Really cool history lesson. So glad he’s back. I really missed his profanity and being told to dislike his videos and tell him to go f himself in the comments below.
My landings in the Spitfire never looked pretty until I recently discovered that two pointers are the way for this warbird, something I am not able to do in any other DCS plane.
Goshdarnit, you’re smooth with that bird.
Only got my landings down recently though. I always got the Spitfire down in one piece (somehow :D) but it always looked chaotic and I was all over the place. Doing it this way makes it ‘easy’.
In DCS, as in life, I only do 3-pointers no matter the wind. I agree though, your wheel-landing was nice.
I can’t do 3-pointers in the spitfire though, that’s why I switched it up. It works for me and it’s a sim so who cares if it works, the alternative would be me doing donuts and other weird stuff on the runway xD
Another Crash Laobi vid:
In ‘Paradise Lost’, my upcoming Huey campaign you will fly both slicks and gunships. In real life, older models with weaker engines were assigned to gunship units, which made taking off a bit of a challenge. Let me show you the trick I learned from Huey pilots’ memoirs, that’s needed to get these things off the ground.
He did a nice job with the tutorial. Looks to be an interesting upcoming campaign.
A common version of the “trick” was to have the crew chief run along side until ETL then hop back on. Let’s see ED model that!
Another tricky is to give pedal right to unload some horsepower from the tail rotor giving a little extra help to the main rotor.
Has the additional advantage of causing your crew chief to lose weight, thereby reducing payload!
