DCS 2.8

Wish they had more than one server so we aren’t SoL when we have time to fly. 0400~0700Z is right in early afternoon playtime for me oof.

Maybe there’s something big in the works…

just saw this on the announcements page on the ED forum … apparently it went up Friday but I didn’t see it then … so gentlemen get your questions ready

If any one of the century series was that great, they wouldn’t have made all the other ones too, would they?

However, they define that era, and I will never turn down a chance to fly one. Even the Voodoo! The most important century series fighter is, of course, the Phantom.

I’ll see if I can find the podcast (I listen to ALOT of podcasts at work), former F-105 jock that was involved in the Have Blue program (if anyone else wants to try and find it). They were flying into airspace that made Berlin and Scweinfurt look lightly defended, and did so for years. 320 combat losses really wasn’t that many for the mission type and the number of sorties (approximately 20,000).

His comment about the loss rate was that the F-105 wasn’t being produced anymore. There wasn’t anything else in the USAF inventory at the time to support its chunk of the nuclear mission, so there was a much bigger concern of being able to fulfill that particular nuclear mission as losses mounted to the 105.

If I can find the podcast again, I’ll put a link.

Oh dude I so wish! The F-4 will definitely come first… Even if not this or the next month for sure.
I am literally dreaming about finally performing the startup sequence of my dear EFA once again.

That’s the first thing I did when I got the beta of the Viggen… Granted, it is extremely simple in the Viggen, but still

I’ll just say that the EFA is probably going to be the easiest module to cold start.

On a side note: I really wonder… Are all DCS maps flat? Even south atlantic? They do appar to show some curvature but as far as I get it’s an effect and not real.

I vaguely remember somebody doing a decent video (though I can’t find it now) testing this and whether it affected gameplay at all, such as through modeling a radar horizon due to Earth’s curvature.

The TL:DR was that yes, the maps are flat but that radar horizon is at least somewhat implemented.

Essentially they found that they could see targets visually via a targeting pod from an altitude and distance which should preclude them doing so but would not receive radar emissions with the same parameters.

I loved when he shared information. I would go into “sponge mode” and soak everything up.

Yeah that’s what I thought remembered too. Many thanks.

Wow!
