DCS 2.8

That’s basically how modern bizjets start up these days, with FADEC.
Add automatic BIT and there’s not that much to do.

Me? 15 - 35 yo Boeings? Still FADEC and pretty easy to start. But we at least control the timing and watch the process. Jumpseating on a 787 makes me nervous. They flip both levers and look out the window.

Oh sorry, I thought you were flying the Global. My bad.

I know exactly what you mean, can’t stand those type of pilots lol. Ours have EECs, but we start them exactly like old school ones, start>8-12%>throttle idle.

One day I was watching the factory service center guys do 5-point engine runs, and the (very competent, trustworthy and detailed) mechanic brought the throttle to idle and then hit the start button (!). I was a bit horrified, but the ITT didn’t run away and the engine started normally.

When I asked what he was doing starting it like that he showed me the service center’s checklist, which spelled out that the engine could be started either way and the EEC would introduce fuel when appropriate. :open_mouth: That’s when I learned that the Mx folks have completely different (manufacturer approved) checklists. They also intentionally start the APU in a loaded state, and shut down unloaded, both of which test automatic control functions I didn’t know existed.

Yeah, a lot can be said about the EF’s procurement, but there’s no denying it’s sexy. Plus, in DCS, we don’t need to worry about that anyways!

I have an interview tomorrow pm. I have been told if I want it the job is mine.

They have three simulators an hour from my house. One is a full motion ex RAF F4.

Now, do I want to buy a second car and drive an hour to work…?

Welp, on a hoggit whine thread about TAA (an image smoothing technique), cobra said soon we’d have all of the image smoothers soon.

The Vulcan renderer is in the closed testing phase, isn’t it?

I know you can’t confirm nor deny it or you’d have to kill us. It’s ok.
