DCS 2.8

Yeah, I mentioned it

And it’s a big project to manage. Largest and longest running combat flightsim project ever, IMO.

This is why development takes a long time and why modules break and must be fixed for changes that’s made.
Everything is constantly updated as features are added. They way DCS is being developed it won’t ever be finished.
So, people who think they buy a game that will be finished are obviously upset about this. I’m not. I accepted this a long time ago. All I’m saying is that it would be easier for ED to do study sims again.

Hehe, yeah I think DCS WWII is a lot of fun and the detailed modules, maps and assets make it something special. I wouldn’t want to fly “lesser” versions of theses aircraft and according to ED the flight model is the biggest chunk of work going into a WWII module so I don’t think it would speed up development of other content. Should DCS WWII be seperate? IDK, I don’t think it matters much although it is cool to fly along modern aircraft and put up virtual airshows etc.

The depth of the simulation of the aircrafts systems and flight models is what makes DCS DCS, so I think it would be a huge mistake to take that away from the sim.

Off the top of my head, the only piece of software installed on my PC that is finished and feature complete is Calculator.

As time goes by it appears to me that newer players are used to game consoles and phone games. I call these ‘throw away’ games; after so many reps your thumbs get bored. Get new game.

DCS is not a throw-away game. More like an OS.

Im absolutely thrilled about 2.9. Just hoping to hear more about these future aircraft. F4U, MiG-17 and others have gone silent. F-104 could happen in 2025
so ill enjoy the VSN mod for now.
Right now im immersed in the Mudhen, the Apache and a real love for the Jug.

The multiverse theory says the update was already released, is being released, and will be released, simultaneously.

with all the talk of the new stuff with the built in voice chat, has anyone tried the system that already there

I’ve never had the opportunity, most servers still seem to use SRS and if we’re flying on a private server Steam chat or Discord is just more convenient

It has some issues that cannot be mitigated for example when servers want to use human GCI/AWACS in conjunction with LotATC there is no way to integrate that with DCS VOIP. Also the radio simulation of SRS is still far ahead of DCS VOIP

Will this be the F4? Or are we doomed to wait to 2.9?

Expecting some 15E improvements with this one though. TFR and maybe JDAM.
