Well I’m sure that’s gotta be up there as one of the most common 1v1 DACT training scenarios, simply on the number of airframes built… sure we’re using real simulated weapons instead of simulated simulated weapons - but still!
Yeah, this is a mistake and I hope ED don’t do this.
Greg’s Airplanes and Automobiles actually did this. Can’t remember if it was the Jug or Dora but he was trolling jet jocks by shooting them down in a piston engined prop haha.
On the other hand when I was flying the Mudhen on Marianas I had your MiG-21 on radar when you were 70 nautical miles out hugging the waves, had a solid TWS track around 35-37 nautical miles and I send the first amraam around 30 miles flying at around 40000ft doing Mach 1.3(ish). With the sensor fusion of the F-35 that’s going to be even more bonkers I imagine, especially when operating as more than a single ship.
My feeling is this will be a revamp of the 25A in FC with a better 3D model and animations and such, but still FC-level, then just made free.
FC1 for LOMAC had the Su-25T but you had to pay for it. FC2 brought the LOMAC plane set to DCS, and then DCS World made the 25T separate of FC3 and free.
FC 2024 includes the Su-25 along with 3 new planes, but I guess they will strip it out of the list and just make it free, too.
If ANYONE purchased the standalone Su-25 for DCS without having all of FC3/24 (and I can’t imagine more than maybe 10 people!), they will be a bit disappointed they could have waited, but unless it was very recently, they at least got to enjoy it earlier.
Really, though, to make the 25 paid while the superior 25T was free never really made sense.
Sorely needed visual update for the Grach. I used to love that thing on days when I’m too tired for clicky-pits. Making it free is also a good move that I think will bring in more players. The Su-25T and TF-51 haven’t been the best starter modules for people on the fence about an $80 module.
