DCS 2.9

Mine is on the MH-6 that the OH-6 mod guys said they would do next…

I’m hoping for the AH-1W Cobra. Something that will pack a punch but not as complex as the Apache. The Kiowa kind of fits that description I guess…but it’s not a Cobra.

A full fidelity Blackhawk would have a lot of applications in the sim though and would compliment the Chinook nicely.

The UH-60 and MH-6 are iconic and good guesses and I imagine that both would be welcomed. I’d prefer the Little Bird, but the Cobra would be a good fit for Jungle by the Sea and the Iraq theater too. So it’s probably an Alligator.

I would most like an MV-22. Blackhawk would be sweet (and probably have quite a bit of systems commonality with chook, non?) As would MH-6. Whiskey vobra or earlier would be cool too.

So yeah. It’s all good man

Top of the list would be any SeaCobra or SuperCobra for me. Navalised attack heli to keep the Harrier company.

SeaHawk please.

I will 2nd this.

In fact any naval helicopter - Sea King, Lynx, Helix… We will need subs in the game though.

In fact, how about a Seasprite? That way I can buy it, dress it up in Royal Australian Navy livery and never fly it

Anything works for me so long as there is a game to go with it. Vietnam would be so, so perfect! Planes and helicopters of that era were far more enjoyable. (From an armchair aviator perspective). JDAMs and radar Hellfires are boring. A Cobra/OH-6 “pink team” patrolling Thunder Road would be peak-sick for DCS. Rotorheads too. Then we could have CH-53s and Broncos and Thuds doing plausible stuff rather than the oddball sandbox nonsense most of us do with the more modern aspects of the game.

We have an AI one in Vietnam War Vessels mod. It lacks a RAAF livery though …

Bang on there with the Lynx … that would be a brilliant multi-role helo

A Westland Wasp would be a fun little helicopter too.

To clarify my above comment about the Seasprite.

After signing a contract for 18 aircraft (including 4 used) with Kaman, our navy then embarked on a process of modernising and updating them to operate from our ANZAC class frigates. After 12 years and over $1.4billion the project was scrapped with the choppers never seeing service.

It is a textbook lesson on how not to do military procurement.

It is also a salutary lesson on how not to do contracts… especially contract variations. I had a friend who later worked for Raytheon, who had the contract to integrate the penguin ASM. Hoo boy, does he have a story to tell about that.

And @TeTeT Our airforce haven’t had helicopters since they were forced to give them all to the army in the mid '80s

Not sure if I understood more than half of it, but might be interesting for the initiated ones in regards to flight modelling: https://grinnellidesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/GD-Flight-Model-Methodology-Rev-1-2.pdf

Happy So Excited GIF

I played the F out of MiG-29 back in the days of the old Falcon 3.0 Megabundle, not to mention FC 1 and 2, so I’m beyond excited about this.

That would be fun, but maybe from more of an intellectual standpoint than anything else? I’m curious how the cockpit interface systems differ from the 50 and 24. It is a mean looking machine, too.
