I wonder if it was Ugra Media that started it, but in any case some Content Manager or Head of PR should have catched that. WTAF.
It would appear they walked back that first iteration.
I took the whole âWhat does the world lack nowâ as a joke, a tongue in cheek comment on the subject matter. But the comment about Gaza? I donât tend to throw myself onto either side of that conflict, but I definitely hold sympathies for the people of Gaza, so WOW, that was tone deaf. It really, really makes me cautious about Ugra purchases, now.
I agree, I think this was on Ugra and not ED. But, Iâm thinking ED told them to change it and for good reason.
Ugra are Russians afaik. Tone deaf is something they do exceptionally well. In russia, room reads you.
Arenât they based in Minsk? I may be misremembering.
And I agree with that.
Iâm just saying that we donât have to fall out with each other, here, because of this.
Not saying that it happened here- but if I found out one of my friends considers the Palestinian genocide a good selling point Iâd be more than happy never to speak to them again.
No, I just wanted to clarify my stand, since you replied to me saying you agree with @smokinhole.
I agree with his point about the Syria map news as well, but wanted to caution people about misinterpretation of others posts.
Iâm with this post from @smokinhole
Understood. Same here.
Talking about Ugra Media Studios being from russia, dont forget that even ED roots and origin is from moscowâŠ. Their first simulators outside from umbrela of ubisoft were only in russian language (ka-50 sim)
Fwiw, i just flagged the post on the ED forum.
What an incredibly tone deaf marketing message. Iâm in shock to be honest. And trust me..I understand my home countryâs problems at the moment and how they affect the world.
DamnâŠwhat a crap thing to put out there. It is literally insane from a business perspective.
Just as an FYI, @Troll reached out to me. Actually he replied to me. In any case it was not to scold or support but just to ease any tension before any exists. And none does. At least not among us. I used the word âhitâ above and that was wrong. Nobody hit me. I was taken aback. Frankly my first reply tilted even more into victimhood. So you actually read the edited me. Urga and ED* can go get well and truly fornicated. I respect them about as much as I do a wet market in Hunan. My love for Mudspikers abides.
*curious how @wagmatt feels about this.
To respond to @BeachAV8R below without a tit-for-tat that always leaves me with the last word: I hear you brother! Iâve been questioning my identity since 2016. Now? What am I? Did âSchool House Rockâ mean anything?
Just another fire to put out among all the drama that is DCS Iâm sure.
What really sucks is that I feel like any comment I make is absolutely useless given how fâd our leadership has been lately..and the f-ing weâve put on the rest of the world. It feels incredibly disingenuous to be angered by some comments from another country that I find outrageous.
People forget, culturally they are not like us. The white nationalism, the racism, the oligarchy, the cult of leadership and its enrichment through corruption, using pseudo-religion to scare people into line, the basic unwinding of the rule of law and breaking the conventions of science and civilization. Plus the Russians are awful as well. ![]()
âWhen someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.â Maya Angelou
Anyway, not keen on buying that stuff but to each their own.
As an armchair historian I thought you were talking about the US until the last sentence ![]()
Looks like they still havenât walked back the âwhat does the world needâ comment.
Yeah I was just being flippant, itâs all sort of depressing and my go to is dark humor as not sure what else to do.. ![]()
First of all.. It is me who should be sorry. I hadnât fully read it before reposting it here. I had only been looking at the all the details and screenshots and didnât read into the flavor text that much.. Now that I did I am appalled. Sorry for this.
No reason for you to be sorry. Not at all.
One of the problems living in this time zone is that I come in on the end of so many interesting conversationsâŠ
DCS has always conflicted me due to the choice of some theatres/maps. e.g. I have never considered the Afghanistan or Iraq maps. But that is due more to personal experience than politics. Some modules, particularly âRussianâ aircraft make me want to take a shower afterwards as well.
But. I can always âpretendâ. I can dress up a Mig-29 in Ukraine livery and smack some Orcs in the Caucasus - which I find quite cathartic. By the same token, I am sure that there are other players around the World who are happy about the inclusion of Gaza (deliberate use of player, because ânews flashâ - at the end of the day, this is a game) there are no doubt others who are relishing the increased fidelity of Tel Aviv and IDF airfields in the updated map. But a big FU to Ugra for including simulated misery (or not) in Gaza as a selling point.
And I can salve my conscience by flying the what I have so far found the easiest chopper to fly (noting that I only have this, the Apache and the Little Bird), by dressing it up in a fictional ADF scheme and flying around Vegas looking for roof tops to land on.
Note: No screen shots of a successful landing yet, due to among other issues - lack of skill and forgetting to lower the landing gear.
