Looking over the Syria map, I am going to need to spend some time helo-touring to see all the new sites. Very impressive additions.
Man it is a good looking map. When my chief complaint is that the zero gravity swing in the theme park doesn’t seem to be animated, and I think they are re-using the roller coaster art assets, you know they hit a home run.
Took the CH-47 for a bit of a spin last night. The working FD is nice, need to play with it more to figure it all out. The hover and ground track mode are excellent, but honestly take some of the fun out of it. I haven’t seen what all the limits are, but I figure the 30+ knot winds in the SA will probably answer that question in due time.

AIM-7M/MH switched to a new scheme with updated SARH seeker (same modeling level as we have in R-27), advanced filtering and seeker gimbal mechanical model, realistic English Bias modeling.
R-27R/ER, AIM-7M/MH. Introduced real-time glint noise based on actual target size. The glint noise (angular RF noise of the target’s airframe) causes the missile to dart between the reflection peaks and can lead to a miss.
R-27R/ER, AIM-7M/MH. Fixed issue with ECM tracking by semiactive seeker block.
CBU-97 miss target - fixed.

Hey there. For those with every module installed (and minimal to no mods), what is the install size of DCS on your storage unit? Just under 2TB? I’m just getting back in, updating and obtaining a few more modules. I noticed one of my 2TB SSDs is giving me the stink eye regarding DCS and now I’m looking to upgrade to a 4TB SSD.
before the promissed update from ED to reduce the footprint of sceneries, all bigger discs are never enough!
Yes, currently, and we not yet have all afgan and iraq finished, 2TB are almost on the limit to accept, so i think, 4TB for now is enough, but we never know the future, also attention that we always need big free space for the download and installation process of the updates, so, if you can get a bigger size than 4TB, its always better
I think my DCS installation is something like 1.5-16TB. I have all the terrains and most modules, only one or two campaigns. It sits on its own 4TB 990 Pro NVMe
With current SSD prices, you might be better off upgrading your internet to 1Gb/s fiber, and then only keeping a few terrains installed at a time.
Even a 400 GB download should finish under an hour with 1Gb/s, and I think most maps are well under that.
Most maps should finish downloading within half an hour.
If that adds €10 per month to your internet bill, you will end up paying for a 4TB SSD over ~3 years time. By then, SSDs should have gotten cheaper and you will have benefitted from faster updates all the while.
Bonus: DCS updates are wayy faster if you don’t have every terrain installed always
