DCS 2.9

Yes! I don’t think I ever made it very far in the campaign but that never stopped me from trying for a LONG time.

Like how they have been pretty much radio silent (compared to most I mean) and then bam here it is a week from now.

Jane’s?? Pfft!

I spent literally dozens of hours flying over that area bombing Typhoons and sub pens with my F-19!
Don’t forget pining for the fjords in the Eurofighter…

It seems like they’ve changed how much info they release before a product is ready. In a good way, IMO. The Chinook, for example: it’s been relatively radio silent about its development process, and now it’s a month or two out from EA already.

Yes that’s true, I like it as well - maybe it’ll catch on!

Hopefully the release will be smooth, there’s a little voice in my head wondering what the coming soon ‘to orbxdirect.com’ means in that teaser trailer. Hopefully nothing? I’m assuming we’ll buy the map from, and install from DCS as usual. Find out soon either way though, which is nice.

I’d settle for getting the F-16’s SA page as a second option for the MPCD instead of just the weapons page in the FC F-15C myself, but a proper full fidelity F-15C module would be awesome :raised_hands:

I think I’ll finally get to learn the F-5 and F86 properly if my friends (who have FC) get this update. So a win-win!

More FC planes is great, except I disagree with their choice of aircraft. There’s hardly anything to simplify on those old birds from the start, and the FC players will still have to faff with depression tables to bomb anything, which then defeats the purpose of the simplification.

But I’ll probably be too busy Viggening on Kola this summer to care.

I think the problem is that the F-18 and Viper sell pretty well already, and a FC3 version of those planes is going to be a lot of work just to cannibalise sales of those jets. I suspect sales of the three in the pack have probably eased down to a low level, and if anything this pack might bump up those sales a bit as a few people find a jet they like and want the full fidelity version of it?

Edit: also the minefield of trying to come to an agreement to do an FC version of a third party plane is probably not something ED wants to face!

I do hope we get a FC WWII at some stage though…

From a development/business perspective it does make sense, but from the customer’s perspective it doesn’t really have an appeal over the full-fidelity versions when you can already fly the MiG-15/F-86/F-5E with a press of Alt+Home, and a couple HOTAS binds to deal with missile/bomb/rocket switches.

I think the price is the main draw, particularly for something you might use less often… it’d be a good entry to Enigma’s server, for instance, assuming they support it!

Enigma already said they won’t support them since they’re not new aircraft.

Though all this talk of them makes me want to fire up the F-5 and MiG-15 again. Only ever flown the -15 once…nearly got myself killed on landing

I’m guessing you just pancaked because your approach got way too steep?

Yeah, I guess it’s a lot of work for them for “nothing new”… but I still think there’s merit in this for filling the multiplayer skies even if you are, like me, a full fidelity purist. :+1:

I think that’s a mistake on their part, and would be surprised if they don’t come around in six months. It’s their server, their rules, so I’m not throwing stones, but also don’t see a reason not to allow them in the next iteration of the map.

Aggressive base turn, probably overloaded with fuel. Got stuck in a left bank attitude going down to the ground and barely got myself out of it by a boot-full of right rudder and pulling in the speedbrakes.

The MiG-15’s throttle response time will always getcha and it gets exacerbated at full fuel + the aggressive base. It’s a remarkable piece of work by ED since, despite being lighter than the F-86, it feels heavier. I always take lazy bases with it and try to come over the fence at about 230kmh indicated. Moment I come over the fence, I don’t chop the throttle, but I do pull it back gently.

That’s right. Keep your MiG fast, it likes that. Fly it into the runway, gently. I usually do that at 250 at touchdown. It does not like AoA when slow and dirty so be very gentle with it. Of the MiG’s we have, the -19 is the easiest to land, followed by the -29 which used to be a right b’stard but it got tamed by ED.

For me, 250 feels a little fast, more chance to float, but if someone’s new? Even for someone who’s experienced. It might be more practical to aim for during a combat setting. It’s absolutely fine, the MiG-15 is a kitten provided you treat it gently.
