If you already own the3 new a/c, then is there any need to upgrade FC?
As someone who flies a lot of warbirds these days, landing jets always feels like a breeze.
Even those that require flying them to specific parameters if you want to land smoothly like the MiG-21 are not much trouble if you fly it by the book. You can even do some aerobraking if done correctly ![]()
I really hope the new landing gear physics are in the pipeline for the German warbirds as well and that ED take another look at the Mossie because the way it behaves does not feel right atm.
The Jug and Pony are a dream to taxi and land now. Ground handling and landing feels very satisfying and nailing those two pointers is just a ton of fun.
Probably not. Unless they overhaul their cockpits or add goodies such as a second pair of sidewinders to the F-5 ![]()
âŠand I should conjecture that ED is not going to remove the clickable cockpits from the Fagot, Tiger, and Saber. Or will they? These aircraft are simple enough to operate.
Great question. If they donât, whatâs the real point (distinction) of FC3? And what would be the point of doing the work to remove them, as like you say, theyâre already quite simple.
Yeah, thatâs a head scratcher. Thereâs outcries for more FC and, while I disagree with ED saying theyâre easier to get into, thereâs still people whoâd like a streamlined experiences. I get that.
But, the F-5E, MiG-15, and especially the F-86 are already REALLY simple.
I wouldnât expect much more, since weâve heard from a few devs that the work that goes into an FC aircraft isnât that much less than full fidelity since you have to do all the time consuming model work there, too.
Jug feels awesome now. Pony feels really mushy and soft to me, though; itâs become one of the hardest ones to taxi (particularly with the tailwheel unlocked) compared to all the others.
More difficult than the Spit? Weird! I havenât had the opportunity to try yet, but interested to see whatâs changed.
For me, yes. Jug taxis sharp corners great. Spit taxis sharp corners great. Mossie does too as long as I gun the outboard engine. Pony just screeches to a halt instead of turning.
I will say that landing in the Pony feels a lot better now.
The brakes are a little too strong but with good toe brakes and a soft touch you can easily spin it around or go around a tight corner.
I donât think I ever have to press the toe brakes more than a quarter of the way to make those tight turns.
Must need some axis fiddling for me then. Pressing my toe brakes a quarter of the way gives 100% braking power.
What kind of rudder pedals do you have?
Iâve got MFG Crosswinds and the toe brakes have quite a lot of travel which makes fine adjustments very easy. The Mustang can be stopped easily by pressing the brakes about a third to half of the way. It will come to a smooth stop. Anything more and it will tip over. I do think the brakes are too strong, they kinda feel like modern disk brakes, not WWII era tech but I easily adjusted my inputs to get the airplane to do what I want. ![]()
Maybe check your axis tune panel?
Saitek pros. I went through the luas and reduced the power by half, but still too sensitive. I donât know whether to add a curve or reduce the saturation.
So DCS update out AND Kola Early Access started, available for DL.
So I have it installed already. ![]()
Warning: BIG. I DLâd over 100GB and it installed to like 150GB.
Ouch. Took about 20 seconds withOUT the Kola map.
I was running a dedicated DCS server using wine on linux via a docker image from GitHub - Aterfax/DCS-World-Dedicated-Server-Docker: Modular DCS World Dedicated Server docker.
Unfortunately the server stopped working with an HTTP 500 error after auth. The author of the docker container, Aterfax, is also not aware what might have changed in the protocol there.
Iâm looking for help on this subject, thereâs an open issue report on DCS World Does not login properly after todays update: 2.9.4.53990 · Issue #61 · Aterfax/DCS-World-Dedicated-Server-Docker · GitHub
Things I tried so far which did not lead to success:
- Set a Timezone of Europe/Berlin and install openntpd - the time and tz is correct
- Update Wine 8 to Wine 9 from alpine linux edge
Cheers,
TeTeT
[EDIT] 10 minutes later Aterfax found a work around, described in the issue linked above.
I canât stop staring at this Phantom screenshot from todayâs newsletter. Not the Phantom itself, but the terrain behind it. That doesnât look like anything in game currently to me.
EDIT: I think this is WWII Marianas. Looks like the Apra Harbor area.
Update with the F-4E release is live
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/stable/2.9.5.55300/
Lots of good an interesting things in this patch aside from the F-4 but the real take away is Razbam updated the SA map!?
