Apparently the northern part of Israel is now back on the map

Dear friends and pilots.

On behalf of our company, we apologize for this error. The removal of this part of the map was an internal error and misunderstanding.

We will soon return everything to its place before the early access version (Northern part of the map). Having checked everything again beforehand.

Thank you for your understanding, we really value the opinion of users, and have done everything possible to solve this problem. Thanks again for your understanding.

I think this situation will help create some conditions and rules, including testing and communication between third-party developers and ED. I believe that any errors and their corrections make the product better!

While we will return everything to its place, please evaluate the new objects and locations, new airfields, etc. Our team tried to make the module more interesting and useful in creating missions and free flights.

PS: since the return of data will take a little time, we will also fix some bugs that have already been noticed. We are doing this immediately. Thank you for your understanding again

So now it sounds like Ugra was just “That’s our map boundaries, get out of it!!”

Maybe I’m like the simple farmer because I can’t see what the issue is considering the theaters are independent of each other. I could see it as an issue if DCS used a whole earth model but MSFS seems to have that issue worked out. Anyway, it’s good that those removed areas will be reinstalled.

I sometimes miss the old days of simming.

So, is the Scooter dead? I tried re downloading but CTD happens every time.

Has anyone managed to shut down the engines on the Chinook? With the condition levers in cutoff, and all the fuel pumps off, she’s still turning and burning. I’m obviously missing something here.

Ok, I figured it out with a little googling. Evidently you need the FADEC powered up to shut the engines down, and as the generators go offline when the condition levers are moved to the ground setting, the FADEC becomes unpowered unless you have the FADEC backup power switched on, with the APU running and the APU Gen on. I’m not sure if that is how it’s done on the real CH47F, but this at least works with DCS. I guess you could also just pull the fire handles.

something I have found … If i do a manual start she seems to be a lot less stable in flight, than when doing a hot start, not sure if i am missing something in the start, but there is definitely a different feeling

Are you switching the AFCS switch to ‘Both’ ?

will have to check and run through it again

Working for me…

Well, the Hook is a bit of fun and the dynamic cargo is a game changer, but aside from the high-quality 3D model and textures, it was released in as bad a state as the Viper was. Only one VHF FM radio functioning, the flight model is more bare-bones than the Apache was at release, setting QNH doesn’t work, EGI alignment doesn’t work, HSI bearing to waypoint doesn’t update in-flight (you’re essentially flying old-school nav), TACAN doesn’t work (you can hear it but get no bearing/DME).

For a module that’s all about getting from point A to point B, I would expect all the nav equipment and radios to be functioning as absolute minimum at release. This is an alpha build, to be honest.

Yeah, it will get there in the future, just like everything else, but after the Viper fiasco ED said they wouldn’t repeat it. And now they’re repeating it. ED’s behavior–and that of multiple 3rd parties in the DCS ecosystem–the last year or so have been horrid.

I’m still learning the navigation systems but I didn’t have any problem following a flight planned route. The HSI cycled to point in the right direction from what I could see. Of course, I never really had a problem with the state of the Viper when it was released into early access.

I really would like to try out the Chinook but I just can’t bring my self to spend money on this game anymore… the current trajectory seems unwell. I could just tell the Chinook wasn’t mature yet. Yah I know things get fixed… heck after almost 10 years some things on the F5 got fixed. It’s just hard to support a game ecosystem thats so disorganized and unstable. (currently)

I will say from what I’ve seen the model is way better than what the Vipers was on release. Does it have a damage model?

I understand and to an extent share your feelings on this.

But I figure it’s a lot like up gripes on real aircraft (god knows we have enough of those in the certified sims :joy:)

@PaulRix The HSI does cycle when passing waypoints or selecting DIR, but the needle only shows bearing at the time it was cycled. I could fly 20nm off course and the HSI still shows the same bearing the waypoint as it did 20nm back.

@Andrew116 It’s a big conflict for me…without people buying the product in EA they would never have the funds to finish it or keep the servers operating. For people who play multiple games, this is fine because they can just drop DCS and play something else. For me, DCS is the only video game I play. So it’s like a “I support you guys and enjoy your products, but can you please get your sh*t sorted?”

I think that before you take the plunge and purchase an early access module, you have to ask yourself… is there enough here for me to have $60 worth of fun with…even if it never gets updated from it’s present state. That answer will of course be different for everyone, but realistically you don’t need to get many hours of entertainment to justify the cost (IMHO). I have already spent about 6 hours with it and so I’m already at the $10 per hour point. That will no doubt drop to a few $ per hour before the end of the week and that ratio will only improve over the coming months.

But that is how an HSI works… is there a course knob or selector on the CH47? I’m guessing there must be a way to adjust it.

When set manually, yeah. In nav modes in other aircraft it always points to the steerpoint. In aircraft where it doesn’t, there’s a diamond or some other symbology denoting bearing to steerpoint. I’ve yet to see such symbology in the Hook, which is a departure from the avionics in all the other modern modules.

Thank You Sir! Its amazing to me that this is a free module. Call it the gateway to DCS full fidelity Jets. Its Free, its Amazing, its Fun… did i mention its Free?
