Oooh, this is a great article. As I understand, MiG-19Ps could carry the K-13/R-3S. The CSLA seemed to have quite a smattering of MiG-19s in its inventory.

I usually like flying Czechslovak liveries as they’re possibly my favorite Warsaw pact member to read about and their roundel is cool.

definitely invaluable are the included memories of the participating pilots.

btw it seems to me that this 3-part-article isnt interlinked seamlessly so adding the other two parts here for our reading pleasure

Taking the TFR for a testride

VLC, set to 100ft, hard

cresting the first mountain results in a -0.8G push over

-0.9G push over going out over the mediterranean north of Beirut

Betty starts screaming “pull up, pull up!”, then a few seconds later the TFR commands a 2.8G pull up and we fly out over the sea at exactly 110ft

flying over Beirut International

passing the George Washington CSG on my way to Cyprus

Cyprus, going feet dry over Akrotiri

Back at Incirlik

Doing a low level deep strike with this is gonna be fun!

Gotta feather that prop ASAP

My Missions often end with a dead engine but most days I still make it back:

Port engine was hit and it died on my way home. My Navigator quickly feathered the prop and we limp back to base. 120 nautical miles at a speed of ~220mph IAS

Home safe

Big event in the German community across many different virtual squadrons. Transfer flight from Incirlik to Ramat David with full ATC coverage and AWACS command and control, pretty amazing how well that worked considering most have never flown together. It shows that most squadrons train to similar standards:

Mission Testing and writing the Briefing continues. Getting everything timed and organized for a Deep Strike with SEAD/DEAD and CAP is a lot of work
In principle the Mission can be flown buuuuuut without a briefing and SEAD/DEAD (F-16Cs and F/A-18Cs) hitting their TOT it’s a tough nut to crack. So I need to test everything, especially now that bombs can be shot down …

After dropping BLU-107 Durandals on the parking ramp with Iranian Tomcats and MiG-23 fighter bombers all hell breaks lose:

finally back over the Persion Gulf, in a few miles I can climb back up to 25000ft

down to ~5000lbs of gas with ~150 nautical miles to go, I top up at the tanker

On final RWY 13L at Al Dhafra, ILS glidepath wants me to come in at 0ft AGL (it’s borked but at least the weather is good and the localizer works)

safe and sound:

I’ve been focusing on the sabre recently,a nice, basic aircraft that’s a lot of fun to fly

I kinda like the looks of the family model over the single-seater. Also mad fun riding in the back seat during replay tracks.

The Combined Controls Mode in muliplayer in the F1 is super cool as well.

But don’t be like Torc and post on the bug forum about the radar controller in the back seat not working, because you didn’t know you need to press the “radar” button next to the throttle to take control of it

Pickup flight with some locals. Very few Japanese playing DCS so I’m usually doing singleplayer. 114 is still a nugget and had a ramp strike. I somehow forgot my speedbrake entirely and still managed to snag the 3
