I had decided to prioritize learning the F-15E over the AH-64.
Due to recent events, I’m going to go to learning the AH-64 now! Barely spent any time with it after the F-15 came out.

Flying last night trying to target a Hip that was literally flying circles around me in a hover, making TADS impossible, I really wanted this already.
Having gotten quadviews sorted, my GPU is no longer VRAM limited and the apache became flyable to me. I am going to make a project of learning this bird.
Yesterday I managed to clean out a range with the gun and crash it on the third landing. It’s a complicated bird!
I just flew the Syria SA-5 surgical strike instant action flight. Huge fun, though, shouldn’t it have been a night flight? And why are the props all in proper Dutch skins, and even the voice overs are hilariously Dutch-accented yet the choppers themselves have Murrican skins?
Anyway, despite not knowing how to get the George AI to do gunnery work, I can get him to maintain a hover while I do the gunnery (missilery?) myself. Actually, the basic stuff in the 'pache is not that complicated at all. Feels a lot like the A-10 in that respect. Basics aren’t all that hard, but there’s a whole lot depth to be gotten from all those gizmo’s.
Anyway, starting to get a hang of it. What a fun bird!
I wonder when they’re going to fix George’s voice? He has multple accents and some of what he says is unintelligible.
Most is American, but he says “on course” distinctly English, “slowing down” sounds like Sean Connery, and one other word he says sounds almost Yiddish as he gets his mic covered in slobber.
Now I want Sean Connery as CPG.
“Shlaving”
Isn’t George voiced by Casmo?
Always hoped Sean Connery would come out of retirement for just one more movie before he passed.
Wheels
TBH it doesn’t sound like him most of the time to me. Sure as hell isn’t him saying “on course”, if he spoke somewhat differently in those sessions than he does on his videos it could explain it.
But he doesn’t sound anything like Mr Bond in those.
I volunteer to voice George’s lines for a consistent accent.
But, the accent will be Upper Midwestern.
“Slaving? Oh you betcha.”
“Ope, takin’ fire, der.”
“Oh dat Hellfire hit home like Love or Willis!”
“Thermals on - Wish I had dis fer deer huntin’!”
Should voice it like either the commando from command and conquer 1 or like the main guy from redneck rampage.
If anyone was following the “History brought to life with AI magic” thread I may come across as a luddite, but I think there’s real potential to use AI tools to train voice models for these sorts of applications, rather than relying on pre-produced sound files.
And a possibly cool thing about that would be the ability to choose different voices for different actors based on your preference, or tie it into a career system (your frontseater gets better with experience, but don’t let him get hurt or you’ll have to train a new one and the new one actually sounds different)!
I love the HCS VoicePacks that are available as a plugin for Voice Attack. I have a couple for Elite dangerous.
One is a generic female AI (i.e. synthesised) voice for when I want to be serious. The other is Norman Lovett who voiced ‘Holly’ in Red Dwarf… Cracks me up every time.
Voicepacks would be fun. I want a redneck, an ozzie, a dutchie, a cornfed iowa farmboy and new jack city gangster. Oh and snoop dogg.
You couldn’t handle Snoop…The Cockpit would be too…S M O K E Y
That is a funny idea… also how about Brian Blessed as the TC in GHPC?
LOL! I would like to hear Mariangela Melato (Kala) ordering him to “OPEN FIRE! AAAAALL WEAPONS!” too!
