Is it a known issue, that a bomb even when equipped with a delay fuze detonates instantly upon contact with a ship? Because that sure what it looks like is happening when I try skip bombing. If that is the case, does anyone know of any work arounds?
Jenrick, are you trying to bomb ships in the local marina again? We’ve talked about this I am sure!
Also, what game are you talking about. That sorta helps us all her
Doh, sorry I added the DCS tag, but I didn’t realize it doesn’t show up in the title.
So in DCS, is it a known issue… etc
What fuze are you using and which bomb?
So far the M64 500lb’er with the M116 fuze (or which ever is the delay fuze) set to 5 seconds, and the MC Mk II and MC Short Tail 500 lber’s with the delay fuze (11 seconds I believe).
Should work i think. Im not up to speed on the WW2 fuses in game.
If you have nose and tail fuzes i would make sure both are set to delay.
If i remember all fuzes have an arm delay and then they have the det delay.
Tried it with dual timed fuzes, plugged noses/tail etc. They work correctly on the ground, but not on ships. Very odd.
Never tried skip bombing in dcs …know it works in il2, but didn’t think that dcs has the bomb physics for it
A couple of months ago delay fuzes were completely bugged if you plugged the nose or tail. I don’t know if this is related and I haven’t tested whether that’s been fixed but I think it’s worth mentioning.
Skip bombing never worked in DCS AFAIK, maybe ED is working on something like that, it would be nice, but I don’t know.
Would be useful in a PTO scenario, right?
Pacific Fighters did it 21 years ago. Not sure if it was even possible in OG Sturmovik…
Pretty sure it was? I remember one of Dart’s video’s showing it off.
Likely this one he made for IL-2: Forgotten Battles.

I’ve tried a few with 11s delay on nose and tail fuses. Don’t recall which bomb specifically, some flavor of short-tail in the Mossie’s bomb bay. They still function normally “on” ships but I find they tend to pass through the ship and become a depth charge instead of lodging themselves in the ship as I would expect.
Interesting, delay fuze in the nose then? I believe I was trying delay fuze in the tail, and plugged nose fuze with the Mossie. I know that’s what I was trying with the US bombs. I’ll give the nose delay fuze a try and see what happens.
I had both nose and tail set to a delay, and armed both in the cockpit.
Okay it is a nose/tail fuze issue, using the delay fuzes in the nose well the bombs function correctly. A little ahistorical, but not huge deal.
