DCS: Caucasus map has strange dark textures in villages

Hey y’all!

Does anyone know what settings I may have to tweak to get rid of this?
Only happens in the caucasus so far, the marianas map looks good.

Aaand, it is gone. No clue what it was, but restarting the sim once more removed the effect.

weird!

Was just typing a reply seeing if you had mods, tried a repair, etc but glad to hear it’s gone.

Guess you can’t beat the classics (aka have you tried turning it off and on?)

It seems to be a pre-compiled shader, related to the global shadow setting or maybe the “smooth flat shadow edges” setting. I got it a couple of times when I was playing with terrain shadow options, but like you say it goes away after a shader recompile (I think you can manually delete the shader cache to force a recompile, but it always sorted itself with a game restart for me?)

My thoughts too. I’ve experienced that issue before, but it went away after I turned off terrain object shadows. I never bothered with a recompile. At one point, I had elongated shadows on the ground that shifted as I flew. I understood it was due to a patch. My simplest solution was to turn off the terrain shadows. I don’t miss them.

This happenst to me with taxiways and portions of the runway on the Afghanistan map. For me it usually clears when I delete the fxo and metashaders2 folders.
