DCS Controls PSA

A PSA for anyone out there like me that has not spent any time in the DCS controls configuration menus of late. I discovered today as I was re-configuring some controls while revisiting a module I hadn’t used in a while that a checkbox for hardware AB detents has been added to the “axis tune” settings!

So far it seems to work, at least in my limited testing of the F16 and F18 modules.
I set the axis to “slider” and then matched the “max” value to my physical detent. In my case this is 74% per the Virpil control configurator. I set the “AB” where I wanted the afterburner to engage. In my case that is over the hump of my physical detent at 86%.

Voila! it works for me. Mil power at 74% throttle, min afterburner at 86%.

No more fiddling with curves or looking up detent calculators!

That would be me!
Good info! Thanks.

Huh. While I don’t have a model with physical detents I just assumed this was a thing in DCS…or would have been a long time ago.

I can’t see my Virpil CM-before_detents_model ever breaking so…will have to wait for an bad impulse to overtake me (hit the ‘buy’ button).

No, we’ve been messing with curves or relying on module designers to put an option in the “special” menu… this is a better way!

I was today years old when I finally spotted this menu item. I’ve been playing in VR and on my monitor 3440 x 1440 widescreen and I could barely read the briefings. Duh…

 When I typing that out you did come to mind. I’ll have to look further; I don’t have the 3D printer (never had one). Pursing this had slipped to the far aft section of my brain over time.

I do…
I’ll print one up for you if you like.

I can vouch for Troll’s workmanship. I used his detent mod on my CM2 (now a backup) and it worked perfectly. :100:

Glad to hear it! And my new printer will make an even better job with it.
