DCS F-16: Would it be Worth Making

Uhm… what?

So, with that furry seat cover, can we get a hula dancer on the dashboard too?

Appears so.

Yeah. I am not sure what you are talking about but nothing in that video looks rushed. If you feel so, then please don’t purchase the early access module and wait until you feel it is not rushed.

I’m shocked at how far along it looks. I can’t agree that it looks rushed.

Sorry to hurt your feelings…

But for my eyes it Looks very rushed.

Even hornet first video was more ”complete” look at it.

Each to their own. One of the great things about Mudspike is that when we have differing opinions, we can remain civil and friendly.

Agree.

And its always just my opinion.

I think I get your perspective, the video did spend a lot of time in a forward looking cockpit view. Not a lot of look-around closer up, with weapons on board etc.

Still good first step, I’m waiting to preorder in steam.

I will pre order too.

And o wachted it frame to frame , Many systems seems to not work yet.

Seriously? Looking for controversy?

My feelings are not hurt. You have a different opinion, that’s fine and you are welcome to it and, again, I encourage you to wait until it meets your expectations.

That I wouldn’t expect to see a lot of yet. Gotta model all the instruments to display it first!

I think the “art” is more crucial. Using the Hornet as a example, we know of real aircraft capabilities vs. what ED will do. Take that and apply to the Viper. The only systems we really need to see are the unique ones, which would be last to go in as they’d take the most work.

I’m not sure if it was rushed. The shots of the pit look very polished. The materials of the exterior model look somewhat odd to me, though i can’t put my finger on what that is exactly. That’s something very minor though. Pretty sure they’ll get that sorted out quickly.

The video itself is a bit makeshift compared to the professionalism of recent presale videos (compare it to the Würger, e.g.) but I think Wags said that GA is working on a video ATM.

It’s the first time they showed the external module. This was announced a couple months ago. They seem to be well on schedule for an autumn early access. They showed a new map. Hormuz was just completed. New carrier well under way. F18 Targeting pod promissed to june. F14 delivered exceeding expectations (and with a major update in the next few days). The content is multiplying at a really fast pace. 2.55 on the corner with VR improvements. Not to mention WW2. I’m astounded about how active DCS development is right now. It was just the beginning of last year (when I first started with it) and it felt super stagnant in comparisson…

(Sorry @Wes, it was meant to be a response to @haukka81 )

Ha! Np. Good summary!

Now, is it me, or were parts of the video recorded in VR (hence the lower resolution cockpit)?

Compared to the first shots of the Hornet pit, the Viper is certainly much further along.

In the first shots of the Hornet pit, nothing worked, it was “just” geometry and textures. The Viper has working HUD, HSI, ADI and there are at least placeholders for the DED and some MFD screens, although the latter look somewhat functional.

Edit: Looking at the video, the MFD pages shown are definitely animated.

Well, my personal firmware is limited to learning 6,352 switch functions.

I counted them from the screen shots, and including from other modules, with Viper I’d be at 6,353.

Damnit.

Do you think that ED might remove 1 switch for me?

Looks good to me.

It is missing an engine, a hook and I will fall asleep lying down like that in VR and those furry seats, but will certainly grab it - I mean it’s iconic. I’ll probably pre-order nearer the release date as ‘Early Autumn’ seems a while away still.

The Syria map looks like the Caucasus and Persian Gulf map’s had a baby.

You can’t import knowledge from BMS?
