and the first departure of the hype-train for today is the 14.26 to multicrew
Not necessarily NATO and max hype for the F-4 right now so I thought I’d leave these here. I like that they painted one up in the delivery camo for the retirement.
Last flights of South Korean F-4E’s
Final days of South Korean F-4E’s firing AGM-142 for last time.
Thanks for sharing those SJ Yellow Tail photos @ Ubon.
Dad would rotate in a few months later when the sister squadron Green Tail Chiefs rolled in for their turn. Getting stupid excited watching all the vids dropping. I’m not going to have nearly enough time to start out with, but my father has already requested some stick time this Winter. Might allow just enough time to put a second rig together?
I would start gathering parts. What an amazing opportunity that would be. I hope that it happens. I bet that there are a lot of old Phantom drivers or fixers that are about to do likewise. Heatblur F-4E in VR for the win.
THAT is cool!
Can you expand on that? Only cause I’ve seen tons of photos of phantoms carrying centerlines
So there’s a few issues with the centreline tank in the E, the first being it locks out the two sparrows on the forward (IIRC) recessed launchers. Another is that, if you have to takeoff and climb with fuel in that tank, you’re probably burning most of the fuel in that tank to haul the weight and drag of that tank.
Where you would see the centreline tank a lot I think is in UK service, where they carried the three tank configuration for patrols and intercepts over the North Sea, and I believe they generally hit the tanker after takeoff so they could actually use that fuel. Not sure if Skyflash had the same problem clearing the tank on launch, it’s possible that limitation was only on the -E?
I could also see US Navy aircraft carrying the tank for similar reasons, but they get a free start from the catapult…
Thanks for that info!
I thought pretty much all sorties involved tanking after taking off and forming up unless they were headed somewhere close like pack 2. I’d think anything leaving Thailand would, particularly Korat.
I think you’re right, but how the Phantom was used out of Thailand is going to be very different to how we’ll be using it, I would expect.
For comparison, I also recommend against players taking a 3-tank loadout on the Hornet in DCS missions… I’ll take the 2-tank loadout and keep up with them throughout the flight and usually I won’t be the one calling Bingo first
I basically have one sitting here that I just haven’t bothered to sell off. Kind of had my brother in mind that he could use with his boys. Pre-ordered two copies of the HB Phantom as well. If I were to upgrade my 3070tiFE it could just slide on over into the back up rig. Honestly if I just get off my butt and sell off some old leftover stuff lying around, I could scrape up the coin to get something “good enough” together.
Last time I was this excited about an F4-E was Third Wire’s Strike Fighters: Project 1 and it just didn’t grab him with the struggle to track targets on the 2D screen. Twenty plus years later we’re going to try it again, but this time armed with headtracking and VR as options along with Multicrew capability. I think the old man is going to have a blast. It will be the closest I EVER get in being able to fly with him in a Phantom together… and I CAN’T WAIT!!
Anybody here by chance get a pre-release copy?
I need to incorporate it into my DEPLOYED system. It should only take about an hour to do so but I need a couple bits if information, all of which can be extracted from a simple mission (miz) file.
- From any of these maps: Caucusus, Nevada, Syria, PG, Mairanas, Kola.
- A “Clean” weapons configuration (default) as I can extract more later on
- Any livery but the default is fine
- Just the F-4 only preferred but not a big deal if there’s more.
With that I can be airborne in about 20 minutes and not have to create anything: targets, comms, other aircraft, etc, etc - a “live” world to fly in anytime I want.
Mostly I want to see if it responds to my communications code (radios) out of the box without fiddling with things or special-casing it.
Thanks.
Sure
Can you be online in the Mudspike Discord? I might be able to stream it live.
Haven’t used that in ages but lemme give it shot…be a couple minutes. Thank you.
No worries I need some time too
Seems my id is “JayAre”. No audio (my dev box has nothing on it but a monitor and keyboard )…correction, seems it is ‘jross’.
Thank you so much @komemiute !!! While I can’t actually fly it til Tuesday I have enough so it I can test 1/2 of my software.
