There’s only an ILS to RWY34 at Banak. RWY16 has a LLZ. Could this be the issue? But neither is offset…

If that means that till now, Sidewinders on the F-4E only had a half-sized acquisition cone, that would explain why they were so difficult to use compared to every other aircraft.

Now I have a valid excuse for not keeping that Fishbed off my buddy’s tail.

Not mentioned in these notes, and perhaps to be fixed in a later one, is the spool time of the engines, which at one second is about twice as fast as it should be…

Cobra has stated that the engine spool fix is coming, though it didn’t sound like it would be in this patch.

The other night, I found myself sitting in a cold and dark Phantom in VR, admiring the HB art, enjoying every nook, cranny, and smudge mark - for like 1.5 hours. At one point, I wanted to reach out and touch the panels, not wanting to believe that it was an illusion. I could almost smell it.

I took my wife to the TWA hotel in NY. Of course I had to have a drink in the Connie.

Walked on, stuck my head in the cockpit, took one whiff, and told my wife, “Yep, that is what an aeroplane smells like. Nothing else smells like that”.

I just tried the new bombing mission for the F4 on the south Atlantic map, it has a spotter script for telling you how good (or bad) you are … i did my first run with a pair of mk82’s and a dive toss delivery …

me “that felt like a good drop”

the spotters reply caught me off guard

spotter “I have no idea where that went”

and immediately fell into hysterics, remembering a post from our esteemed tanker from down under @Harry_Bumcrack talking about where a tank round went

took me a little bit to regain my composure :rofl:

Here are 3 x Marianas missions with the Basic Surface Attack (BSA) script that Sidekick uses to do range scoring. The missions are made so that all you need to do is edit with the ME and add your favorite aircraft to an empty spawn point, ask your crew chief to add your desired loadout, and bomb away. I edited the one with the A-4 and added the Phantom. It works pretty well. You use the F10 Other in the comms menu to tell the range tower that you are “rolling in”, which is short for, “I’m ready to start blowing stuff up.” You can call them back to say that you are done attacking, or keep making runs. The script will score each one, but the results get rather long.

@jross, you may already be using something like this, but I was thinking that this would be a cool addition to DEPLOYED, since you are checking in with the tower anyway. Perhaps drop Draken35 a note.

The scoring can get wordy if you don’t inform the range tower that your attack is complete between runs.

I think that it is quite sad that I’m sitting here in Hawaii wishing I could take the Phantom for a hop or two. There is so much I need to practice! :thinking::crazy_face:

I guess I’ll just have to suffer out here!
