And you can fit through the Atlantis, The Palm cutout…

Nice! That was all under construction when I was there.

…and…because I know it was a burning question in everyone’s mind…uh…no, you can’t engage the arresting gear going the other way…

350 will give you better performance initially, I’ll try to maintain 300-350 until I get to the final altitude. Level or descending, 250 is generally used for max endurance and tanking, 300 for range. If the FPAS page is modeled correctly, you can reference it for current max E/R airspeeds. You can also box CLIMB in the NAV mastermode to get a speed carrot showing you where you need to be for best climb profile.

I doubt it, perhaps on a long cross country with winds helping you but the jets are typically happiest in the mid-upper 20s.

I’m curious, have they added any extra options for the mission editor? IE being able to have radios pre-channelized? Are the waypoints the standard click to place mission editor type? Or are you able to define all of the waypoints?

I think you are missing some of the basic fundamentals of Carrier Operations there Chris. Back to day 1 of training with you! :wink:

FPAS is just a placeholder right now…so no data there.

I haven’t explored it much, but the waypoints you set in the Mission Editor become the waypoints in the mission. I remember Wags saying something about how you could have up to 100 waypoints and 3 sequences, but I haven’t dug into that.

Yeah, to me at least, the waypoint system is much easier than in something like the A-10. You have 100(or whatever it is for the charlie) slots for waypoints which you can preload in the jet. You can easily edit that waypoint by just boxing DATA - WYPT on the HSI and boxing UFC to enter the new lat/long or grid and that’s it.

Then if you want a sequence, whether for a route, area box, etc, you just hit SEQ UFC for that sequence and insert the numbered waypoints you want. Easy.

It’d be nice if you could have those pre-loaded waypoints, that aren’t necessarily associated with a route, available pre-loaded through the mission editor. Something similar to the editor for the VRS bug or the DTC for BMS.

I too am right there with you guys. Day after release I’m away from home for a week and a half. Doh!

Poor a drink out for Memorial Day Hornet Weekend :cry:

Someone explain the difference between endurance and range? And not that endurance.

Endurance: Best fuel burn to stay in the air longest;
Range: Best fuel burn to go a distance;

Burning fuel to add miles versus burning fuel to add minutes.

It should seem like the longer you stay in the air the farther you can go bit I am guessing it is an AoA thing where the best AoA to stay in the air a long time does not translate into efficient miles being added whereas the best AoA to add miles efficiently could decrease the actual time you can stay in the air.

Aviators will correct me and please do! :slight_smile:

You got it. And to further complicate things, winds aloft sometimes determine whether max endurance or max range engine settings are appropriate. For instance, generally, it isn’t worth it to use max endurance or max range settings when fighting against a significant headwind. With a tailwind, your max endurance might in fact get you further than max range in some cases.

For instance, lets say your max range airspeed is 200 knots, but you are driving into a 150 knot jet stream. Better to go 400 knots with your fuel and get somewhere rather than nowhere. And if you are heading downwind, that 200 knots suddenly becomes 350 knots of ground speed. So you might even want to pull it back beyond max range and go to max endurance and stay up there as long as you can to take advantage of the push.

Pretty sweet if the f18c computer in game can tell you this.

I think once the FPAS page is modeled it will…

Does this mean early access release date is 30 May or actual full-bore release is on that date?

Early Access. You won’t see a full release for months

Thought that was the case but had difficulty confirming. I’d like to get into this as soon as DCS World ditches Starforce.

I thought it had already?

Really hard to find out, actually! I saw the announcements last fall but I wasn’t sure if they followed through yet.

harrier doesnt have it.
