Time for a dumb question. I set my TM Warthog up using Chuck’s guide for the F-18, but I’m a little confused as to what the TMS switch up/down is supposed to be zooming in/out on. Can anyone clarify?

The Hornet in the DCS background pic has 9X, I beleive…?

That would be zoom view in /out. I usually just use the friction slider on the WH base as a zoom axis myself.

Thanks! I do the exact same so I guess that frees up two buttons for me! Maybe I can use one for disable NWS so that I can get my stick front bar back for use as a modifier again.

If you’re looking at that, also AP disconnect.

Correct. Was thinking I could use the AP Engage/Disengage button on the WH throttle for that. That or the red pinky button on the throttle itself.

I’ll throw my KISS version on the pile. I’ve somewhat standardized over the years in that I try to keep commands that are generic in nature, like views and VR zoom, the same over most of my T.A.R.G.E.T. profiles. That way I can move from aircraft to aircraft keeping the same basic location for switches. The exception would be something like the Huey, which throws pretty much all of that out of the window. I always use the Lever for Shift, which conflicts with some Eastern block a/c brake levers and also the Hornet Autopilot and NWS switch. But relocating those is a small price to pay for standardization among the rest. Also, the lever is the easiest and most reliable switch for me to get my extra large meat hooks on. I used to use a 3 level approach with the Cougar, but found that simplicity or shift/unshift outweighed having the additional commands.

Here is my version 1.0 for the DCS Hornet. Version 1.1 will support the TM F16 MFDs for the left and right DDI.

Great news about the revamp of the Rockeyes. Considering that the majority of targets in DCS are vehicles, they probably become the primary A-G weapon for many.

Also very excited to see Shiraz. Giving Iran some depth will enable to full potential of the PG map.

To me personally having the inners loaded with aimed cluster bombs (ie hydras) and the outers with single shot zunis is even more of a fun prospect

I’ve just recently acquired the F/A-18C, and I’m going to spend as much time today as possible setting up the HOTAS and climbing back into the cockpit of a fast mover for the first time in months. Wish me luck!

Anybody else planning on playing the ID4 mod?

Accomplished my first a to a refueling in the Hornet via the provided mission in DCS. Thought the basket would be easier than the boom for the A10C, but I was wrong

Not only did I manage to setup my HOTAS today for the F/A-18C, but I jumped online for the first time in probably over a year, took off from a carrier and landed all on my first try! I should probably thank NB and KS, they did help me get air born and back again. And another thank you goes to Fridge! He knows why.

Allow me to correct myself. I didn’t actually land on my first attempt. I had to go around a couple of times, but when committed I landed wheels down and on the deck! It was proabably a bit fast, but it’s still a victory, especially considering how long it’s been since I’ve attempted a carrier landing. Anyway, it’s good to be back!

New Lex Video UP

That video was on point, IMHO. I’ve been simming since the dawn of the 80’s, read countless books (including Shaw), and watched countless videos (including Art of the Kill). In my opinion, no one has broken down basic concepts quite like Lex. I’ve become a quick fan of his series.

Personally, I think ED should have a discussion with him regarding wing man formation logic and ops and use that knowledge to tweak the wingman code. I don’t know about others’ experiences but my wingies sometimes fly like they had one too many at the O’Club. Could be I’m simply a bad lead.

Anyway, I hope he sticks around and continue to contribute to the community.

Yeah, his little demo of being on-speed and how the E bracket moves up and down with throttle but the AOA remains relatively constant, turned a big light on in the often dim mind of mine.
