I’m just curious, but does anyone know if software exits that can be used like an instructor station or a remote control station for DCS? I’m fine sticking a laptop outside of the sim, but I don’t want a mouse or keyboard IN the sim, which is difficult to get into/out of.
What are you looking to accomplish with the instructor station?
There are some options if you’re just looking to inject units into the mission. For example, you could spawn a group of MiG-29s and control them like an RTS.
If you’re looking for more of a traditional instructor station with the ability to fail components, instruments, and add emergencies… I’m not so sure. It’s definitely something DCS is a bit lacking in out of the box.
I dont need to fail things or cause emergencies, I just want to control the sim (scenario/missions, practice approach/landings, or reset the flight) without having to get out of my sim or have a keyboard/mouse in the cockpit. An iPad or laptop is one thing, but I like immersion. Basically an IOS without failures. But then again, I can see a place for failures being in there.
I recall someone asking for this on the DCS World forums a few years ago (though last time I chased down something that I remember happened “a few years ago” it was 2018 - so beware ), but I don’t think anything official came of it.
Also: I know you don’t want a mouse/keyboard in the cockpit, but I’ve found a trackball fits well in my racing cockpit (edit: that I use for DCS, just to indicate what I’m using) and I actually couldn’t live without it now.
I use an elecom left handed trackball down by my left knee, I know Jar from the Stingers uses a normal (right handed) logitech trackball between the seat and the right console of his cockpit.
This could pass for an aircraft part if you can find a spot for it?
So I know this doesn’t answer your question, but might give you a way forward if you can’t find what you need?
