I am actually very surprised that it hasn’t been done yet.
The terrain mesh for Wake Island is available in high resolution for free, textures are rather easy since the whole island is covered by google, including street view, it is a tiny island with just a few dozen buildings on it, and surrounded by a lot of water.
An ideal testbed for making maps. I had everything prepared (mesh holes filled and that usual GIS stuff) for the release of the map tools, with the goal of making it a small map, for everyone to use for free.
Roughly the same for Midway.
(But yeah, sadly that went nowhere obviously)

Ouch, same here. DCS already takes up 60% of my SSD, and last time I removed free stuff from my install, it broke
