Basic flight operations seem to work, and hence I push it out as a beta. Note however the rather long KNOWN ISSUES list:
The collision shell is very crude and needs to be redone
JBD3 is slightly elevated over the flight deck
JBD struts are not straight but at an angle
No lights
No weaponry
No normal maps or roughMet maps are available currently, textures will be redone later
ICLS is not working correctly
Helo operations are largely untested and recovery for 16 helos is broken
Toyed around with AA small calibre guns yesterday after work. After some help from TheAdmiral I got something working, not too precise hopefully, but lot’s of fireworks. Seems the default AA 2cm Oerlikon is a bit lethargic when engaging targets. This has been overcome, I believe. Anyway, 5 minute video showing three US destroyers been engaged by 4 MiG-17F (bombs) and 4 MiG-21MF (rockets). Was meant as a test, but as it looked kind of great, I decided to make a video. Assets will air in Vietnam War Vessels 0.8.0 next week, if all goes well:
The venerable RA-5C Vigilante. Today I altered the launchbar based model to a (crude) bridle catcher version of it. Took a few hours to figure everything out, but now it’s more of a proper 60ies plane, fit for Vietnam
The base model is from Helijah, FlightGear who published quite a few hundred plane models in source form for blend or fbx or obj. Feel free to donate if you like his work
It’s not particularly clear on the Discord, but is the flight model tweaked any? It seems to run heavier than the Legacy, as it should, but the Legacy’s gear is a bit fragile at higher trap weights and descent rates. I can’t get 33k for max trap without running the Rhino on fumes (about 2,000lbs). Is the mod’s gear beefed up for a higher max trap? It pulls more alpha on cat shots too which is interesting.
You probably saw in the # general section of their Discord and found that someone tested and the SH fuel weight is 13k vs. the Charlie’s 10k. But I couldn’t find a landing gear or max trap weight answer. As far as the SH falling off the deck, from the # faq…
Q: Why do I keep falling off the carrier deck when I spawn?
A: the Super Hornet is quite a bit larger than the legacy Hornet, so the center point of the aircraft still references the Legacy Bird for parking.
This has been fixed internally with he developers and will be published with several other bug fixes.
In the meantime, you can place static objects along the deck to block those parking areas and force player spawns in other areas of the carrier.
So when my jet tells me I have 3,000lbs of gas I actually have 6,000lbs? With the weights indicated on the checklist page I sometimes need so little indicated fuel that the “fuel low” warning is tripped.
Is there anyway to add lights to an airport??? For the life of me I can’t see or make out airports above 8K feet in sandy maps.

No I have the same, on PG I make sure I know where the airport is before starting the approach, I can almost never tell by looking ahead.
