@chipwich thanks for hosting, the server worked like a dream!

@tempusmurphy @PaulRix Thanks for coming out tonight, had a blast! Got to do some proper loach flying and even managed to decently bomb with the F5!

Glad that you guys had fun. That mission takes a long time to load, but once it’s up, it doesn’t hit the CPU very hard. I’ve started shutting down Skate’s updater, the Steam client, and any Chromium based browsers, which in sum saves about 10% processor load.

I was thinking of having another go upcoming saturday the 30th, probably into the jungle again, some helo flying, some F5 bombing, good times!

Sounds like a plan

would it be possible to add a couple of apache’s… but restrict them to rocket pods only, no hellfires or radar, they could be a stand in for cobras

Oh that would be cool but don’t let us bother you Chip!

Anyone have the skinny on how to do that? I’ll take a look at it tonight.

Edit: I asked Copilot (just to p.o. the AI critics )

To limit a particular aircraft to a specific loadout in the DCS Mission Editor, here’s how you can do it:

:white_check_mark: Step-by-Step Guide to Restrict Aircraft Loadouts

  1. Place the Aircraft in the Mission Editor:
  • Select the aircraft group and place it on the map.
  • Make sure the aircraft is set to Client or Player if you want the user to fly it.
  1. Open the Loadout Tab:
  • On the right-hand panel, next to the Waypoints tab, you’ll find the Loadout tab.
  • This tab allows you to assign a specific weapons configuration to the aircraft[1].
  1. Assign the Desired Loadout:
  • Choose the loadout from the list. You can also create a custom loadout if needed.
  • Make sure to save the mission after assigning the loadout.
  1. Prevent Changes by Players:
  • To lock the loadout, set the aircraft to Client instead of Player. This disables the Mission Planner for that slot in single-player mode.
  • Alternatively, in multiplayer, players can only use the loadout assigned in the editor unless you enable rearming at a friendly airbase.
  1. Check for Compatibility:
  • Ensure the aircraft’s task type (e.g., CAS, CAP, Pinpoint Strike) matches the loadout. Some loadouts are only available for specific tasks[1].
  1. Troubleshooting Tips:
  • If the loadout doesn’t appear in-game:
    • Confirm the mission was saved after setting the loadout.
    • Make sure the aircraft is not starting in the air with a conflicting configuration.
    • For aircraft like the A-10C, you may need to reload the DSMS (Digital Stores Management System) manually in the cockpit to reflect the new loadout [1].

Would you like help with scripting or triggers to enforce loadout restrictions dynamically during the mission?

How about have them spawn in empty and have no hellfire missiles in the warehouse of the bases, if there are none there you can’t load them, I think that might be easier than restricting the loadout

Or, we could just use an honor system if it is easier….

I plan on being there…. Usual time?

No worries, just enjoying some DCS time here. Current on Chip’s server messing with the huey. Was on Rotorcraft earlier but that one shat itself. Might move to blueflag Syria later on. Such a wonderful helo environment!
