Just being sneaky sneaky behind the trees with an apache is a ton of fun. Had to set her down to figure out a annoying beeping sound. Turns out I had disconnected the FMC and disabled all SAS systems. Oh well, live and learn.

Insurgent hunt

This is not what the range boss was expecting when I asked him to help me test my 30mm. It works great, though! (the targets go down with just a few hits). Lessons learned: The gun is great under 1000m and beyond that, it becomes an area attack weapon where hitting very specific targets becomes optimistic. Sending off AGM-114L’s with only waypoint data is also too optimistic, they go for very random stuff (or better yet, tank corpses). When fed with FCR or at least (good) TADS data they become much more reliable.

Love that Sniper XR pod, now ED needs to bring the ATFLIR and Litening to the same level

Playtest of my sandbox. Flying as MAG-21 out of Agana.

Stumbled upon this view while messing with the free camera.

Sherman on a mountain engaging Japanese armor. AI Corsairs also doing runs on it; the FAC script worked and put smoke markers on the targets that were detected. I planted one bomb dead-center between the smokes, knocking out a tank. With all the smoke I couldn’t do a BDA so dropped another bomb, which went slightly long due to the wind.

Spotted the AI doing runs on another target, no smoke marker, so I planted my rockets in the general vicinity, did some gun runs, then went home.

Decided to do some huey practice today, did the ship landing - hard instant action to get some good practice in. Wasn’t that hard because the ship keeps a steady forward speed so I could easily nail it in one go. I think it’s harder when the ship is static.

Good fun though, still got the gunnery skills in the huey!

God, I love the Corsair.

The MkIV is a hot rod. I was anticipating the faster roll rate due to the clipped wings, but I was not expecting a +1500fpm climb rate with 2,000lbs of bombs or easily screaming along the deck at 270kts at MIL power.

Flak engaging the SEAD flight. One AI baiting them while the other rockets them from behind. The suppression lua script is working well. When they get hit they will disengage for 10-15 seconds then reengage.

Identifying my target.

Close enough.

While the flak was engaging the SEAD flight to the west I snuck low behind the hills to the east, popped up, caught them with their pants down, and strafed the snot out of them.

Emptied my guns on vehicles and aircraft parked at one of the airfields then headed home. The nav radio seems borked at the moment so I spotted two AI heading home and followed them back. First pass was a bolter of course. Sparks on the hook are a nice new touch.

As expected, the auto-spawn AI are cocking up deck ops a bit. The US carrier had 5 aircraft stuck with their engines running refusing to take off. During the replay AI would trap and plow straight into parked aircraft warming up their engines. My only solution might be to cut the AI’s mission time so that they’re trapping long before the carrier even turns into the wind, but they may RTB long before any players/clients finish their missions, which causes a slight problem with the SEAD stuff.

after the rotor session the other night, I realised that I haven’t flown the Huey in ages … so just fired up the open flight on the Kola map

the huey is still nice to fly, not quite as stable as the Kiowa, but then it doesn’t have the stability systems… but still old fashioned stick and rudder (anti torque just doesn’t sound right) flying

Okay so this helicopter might be the best one in all of DCS. Tons of power, very stable and easy to just flip around because it’s so light! I am totally in love with this thing. I just wish I had dinosaurs to hunt

EDIT: I may have accidentally hit a car whilst landing… Well they drove into a helicopter so who’s really to blame?!

Any good missions for this bird that any of you know about?

I’ve read that Into The Jungle is a good fit for the Loach. Needs a ton of modded content though.

Yeah and it currently doesn’t quite work, the developers are working on fixing the mission once more though!

Finally found a little time to play, these are from a couple of campaigns - man it’s so hard to come back after being away, even if only for a month or two!

TDC this, uncage that… trying a thing where I just kinda plow on ahead, and am not afraid to pause and look stuff up right in the middle a mission if I have to.

edit - a few more (from the ’ Inherent Resolve’ campaign), taking out some aircraft on the ground as part of a strike package

Waypoint conveniently placed on the apron so nice and easy bombing in auto mode.

The Harrier and APKWS is so much fun! My landing was quite off the mark but I’m happy to be on the boat alive! It’s time to dive into her campaigns I bought on sale many moons ago and was saving for some rainy day. Unfortunately, the rainy day is not for me but for the fact this bird will retire from DCS.

After a bit of flying as WSO with @Derbysieger (even if I was absolutely unable to do anything ) …

I created a mission just to test the OH-6.

This thing is nimble!
