As a Swede through ancestry I have always seen “my people” as somewhat largish. I have shoehorned my 6’5” into some very small flying spaces. This thing makes a Pitts S-1 cockpit look like a Pan Am Clipper!

What is the boom handle thing above the standby compass?
Canopy handle. Forward closes and locks, backward unlocks and opens.
In the video you can see it in the closed and locked position.

Ahh. The hydraulic piston going down to the front of the glareshield threw me off. Seems excessive.
It is a SAAB design, which of course means it is the perfect solution…

Here’s the nose of the simulator. From what I could understand it’s got a compressor that feeds airpressure to one tank and creates vacuum in another. This is linked to the instruments via regulators and plenum chambers to give airpressure that corresponds to the total and static airpressure that would be present if the instruments, or air data computers, were airborne and travelling at the speed and altitude dictated by the simulator. Now, if this leads you to believe that the guy building this simulator is one particularly clever dude, you would be absolutely correct.

Simulating the air pressure in order to use the original gauges is amazing.
I’m sure it’s a full time job simply keeping the simulators up and running.
