Yeah there is one. I also downloaded one halfway realistic one a while ago and did some adjustments to make it even better, but even with a mission template there is quite a lot of stuff that you have still to do manually if you want it in another mission.
For me it isn’t a huge problem as I know my way around the mission editor, but for someone with less experience it is not very accessible yet.
Well, we will see. Maybe they do something like that (or one of the the modders does at least. Moose for example contains some great methods already. It would just need some sort of beginner friendly GUI because not everyone can - or wants to - do scripting.
OK, just spent the last two minutes in tension on the cat in a Tomcat at full throttle after getting the launch signal from the LSO and everything seemed to freeze. Anybody know what I missed?
Something is afoot when its the LSO that is giving the launch signal!
What was the shooter doing? twirling his hands or pointing forward? Did you ignore his raise the strut command? (Tomcats don’t do that). Did you salute him?
Oops, you’re right. Followed the flight deck director’s signal onto the cat, extended the launch bar on signal, creeped forward until the cat runner took me into tension, followed the shooter’s signals to turn up, gave signal for salute! from radio menu, sat there. Nothing.
Good that you said this! I tried the same and it didn’t work for me either! I’ve been launching with the keyboard command (LShift + U) which does work. Even when you get stuck using the radio menu, you can still press the keyboard command and they’ll launch you.
Managed to get off the deck, and get aboard, but apparently pulled a Maverick and Jester and killed my wingman. I still have no clue what I’m doing and holy crap there’s a lot going on with too many radio menus. Either the GIB needs to start helping, and/or VAICOM will hopefully catch up soon. Pics later.
He sure doesn’t like giving high scores too easily! Is it the easing the gun in the wires that killed my rating? I know it’s bad to do but I am not as much in control of my AoA as I am supposed to Is there a list somewhere that states how the errors affect the grades?
For starters, I was able to radio in to the carrier to and they told me to expect a CASE I recovery.
Upon getting closer, the radio menu showed the dialog scripts for a CASE II / III recovery and no matter what options I played with they would not respond any further. So I ran my approach anyway and got a no-grade. Similar occurred to @Franze.
We were confused on-deck as our radio ATC menu was blank - no options.
I found out the “Request launch” option in the ground crew menu gets the deck crew moving in position for all four cats, but there is no taxi guidance. Just roll up to a cat and get directed from there. Running through the steps in the Hornet to launch worked well and the only hitch was I forgot the key bind for salute so I wasted some fuel while I cycled the radio menu to get it.
