Curiosity got the better of me last night and I picked up Parallel 42’s Camp Out utility for MSFS. It is primarily designed to let you build your own custom campsite while bush flying. I thought it would be a fun challenge to mark an impromptu runway and see if night landings off airport would work… which they do.
This is an example in an easy, wide open area next to Meteor Crater in Arizona. It’s a clear moonlit night which helps a lot but on a dark night this will allow you to create some quite hair raising black hole approaches!
