DIRT 2.0 Cameras

Hello, I just loaded up DIRT after seeing many YouTube videos showing the various courses. I don’t have the “hood” view cameras, actually the only camera view I have is cockpit. Can anyone show me how to get the hood view? Thx for the help.

Welcome to Mudspike :mudspike:

I own DIRT2 it is not installed and it has been ages since I played it.

It might be the same as Dirt Rally ?

Change camera is RB on a X-Box controller . Keyboard ‘c’ or if you have a wheel, whatever button you have bound to c.

Thx for the reply HB, I will give it a try when I get home.

Being the same as Dirt rally is a bit of a long shot. But surely there must be something in the settings that refers to cameras - under gameplay, keybindings or something?

Yeah, I’ve not run Dirt 2 in forever, played Dirt 3 far more recently after the rerelease that removed Games For Windows integration.
I do know I almost always use a hood or roof cam, not a rear 3rd person or in cockpit one, so you have to be able to do that.
I find “cockpit” to be the view you’d get from the BACK seat of a car. When I sit in a car, I can’t see the roof, the dash, and the wheel all at the same time! I have to physically look up and down to move from seeing one to the other.

That unnatural “squashing” of your vertical POV kills it for me. When I sit in the driver’s seat the view from the hood or roof is more like what I see, depending on the car. For some cars, the hood view is like slouching down in the seat so far you’d not be able to see over the wheel, so I stick to roof as my head is usually pretty close to the roof given how often I bang my head on the roof and NOT my chin on the steering wheel!

Thx Jedi, I completely agree, it does feel like you are way back in the car, making it very difficult to keep up with the driving. I have had Assetto Corsa for years and the hood view is the only way I run. You mentioned Dirt 3, is that similar to 2, any improvements?

It definitely looked better. I’m not as certain the SP game elements were as fun, although it added the Ken Block Gymkhana stuff where you drift and do stunts as a game mode. I only thought that was ok, so while I played a lot of Dirt 3 in MP I did less in single player than Dirt 2.
However, when MS pulled the plug on GFW Live and Dirt 3 broke, they later released a new Steam version that didn’t have MP anymore. I played it a bit more but still I’m torn as to whether 2 or 3 was the better game.

It did have a lot of new locations like Monaco that I thought looked great and were fun to drive.

I skipped Dirt 4 and 5 and went first to Dirt Rally 1 and 2 instead and now EA’s WRC which is kind of like Dirt Rally 3 and Dirt 6 combined, but leaning more toward DR. That’s good as I found DR 1 and 2 a little sterile, while Dirt 4 and 5 were far too arcade-gamey. Dirt 2 and 3 were the pinnacle of that series, avoid 4 and 5 at all costs if you enjoy real Rally racing.
