Red 5, I’m going in…
That would make it a bit more interesting for a stage or two. I thought that it might be better had Heat Blur programmed your co-driver more like Jester. For instance, after finishing a particularly brutal stage, he would say something like, “The manager is going to have our asses for that one.”
What I miss most about the co-driver is that you cannot make them repeat.
For example when I spin or crash or get stuck, I get out of rhythm so I really don’t know what the next two turns are. She doesn’t repeat it though so I need some turns to get back into sync. That leads to me making significantly more errors shortly after such a situation.
If she would just repeat it (or I could trigger that) once I am back on track that would help me a lot.
Alt Rally in Scotland finished.
I struggled in the rain, particularly with the stages with drops and ditches. After plunging down them a few times and getting stuck in the ditches I curbed my driving style which seemed to make things worse.
I had one horrendous stage, the first run through the 7.5 miler, where I got stuck, took a recover penalty, then rolled down the bank on the next corner, burst two tyres in the process, fixed one, but had to drive the remainder of the stage (over half) with a flat back right.
As soon as the rain stopped, even with the track full of puddles I could pick up the pace again. I guess its the restricted vision, but that’s the point.
I got into a flow on the last stage and really enjoyed it, my poor Mitsi resembled a Nissan Micra by the time I’d finished and in the last square left I hit the last pile of logs and broke the steering. Fortunately I had enough power and another pile of logs to cross the line. The marshal survived this one as well as he had to help push my car back to the pit.
Fully expecting not to remain in the position I’m in. Tough but great fun and thanks yet again @Mudcat.
This is why I went to later calls, all though at one point there was such a stream of 3l, 3r, 3l, 4l, 3r, that I just tuned my co-driver out. I was still a bit peeved however from his missed call right at the beginning of this stage. I pulled a full on Michael Scott driving into the lake waiting for the call. (when i went through that section again he made the call after I was 3/4 of the way through it, first time though I had no idea which way the turn went.)
Ha-ha. Yeah, I missed that first right as well. What a way to begin a miserable stage. At least we are all becoming better at driving in a monsoon
Haha, same here the first time I drove that stage.
Just under 2 hours to go if you need to finish up this week’s Fun Run in Argentina
Fun Run #2 results
14 racers entered
13 made the finish line
10 with their car still running
Congrats to the top 3
@Roo
@keets
@chipwich
While the tight stone canyons might have had some of you gnashing your teeth (and the car’s fiberglass) you may be left wishing for that kind of comfort if you stray too far off course at Baumholder. Either way, let it rip and good luck Weekend Rally #3 starts in @30 minutes
Pretty close racing at the top boys. Only 5 seconds separating P1 & P2 after 6 stages. Well done. The rest of us were - meh.
I’ll give it a try tomorrow, most likely.
Woohoo! Argentina was fun. As Chipwich said, it was great that we were so close for the whole rally. Good fun.
Yeah, the rain is bloody scary. The first stage is pretty bad, especially going into the forest where it suddenly gets dark. Not being able to see out the side windows at all doesn’t help. There were also a couple of places where the wipers just got overwhelmed for a few seconds. Driving with only a blurred outline of where you’re going is terrifying.
The co-driver calls did seem to lag a bit every now and then. Basically went into scared granny mode, where any hint of a turn was a slam on the brakes. The R5 cars are deceptive in that you get a lot of speed very quickly, but you don’t really notice until you hit a corner. Group B there’s a lot of noise and you know when you’re going quick; R5 just sort of quietly pulls without any fuss.
I’ve just done the first stage, was closing on Elby, then spun on the last hairpin. I hate those damn concrete things.
I continued on to stage two and there was a “server error… can’t connect” before I got to the start line of stage 2 DR dumped me back to the main menu and I was able to get into the Mudspike rally, but it put me straight on stage 3. I guess I’ve been recorded as 15:00 for stage 2, cant check as the server is all over the shop.
I carried on with the stages, but is there anyway to get back and do the stage I’ve not done?
no, unfortunately you basically have to just sorta wait to exit out till racenet sorts itself and not exit to menu.
I can always give you the settings and add/subtract in times if such a thing happens. We’re not really keeping score, or at most doing so in a way much like “Who’s Line is it Anyway?”
Seems fair Keets old boy, since we saw your team manager doing tequila shots at the hotel lobby bar last night. Your stage time was ahead of TeTeT by ~ 22 sec after S1, then ahead by ~ 43 on S3. Let’s call that 1 minute. But the aggregate time is behind TeTeT by 9:32 after S3. So adding what we know about S1 and S3, it seems like the marshals docked you between 9 and 10 minutes. That probably for being late to the driver’s meeting.
I’d say that an appropriate handicap, wouldn’t you lads?
Thanks chaps, I knew you had my back.
I’m not too fussed about timings or results, I just wanted to put my time against everyone. I’ll take my medicine though and leave as is.
I’ll do a time and video and post it anyway.
Agreed, I wouldn’t feel right claiming a finishing position knowing the game screwed you over. I will fully accept your time under the gentlemen rules of the rally.
My post was completely in jest and I would accept reducing your time, which assuredly will beat mine, by 9:00 minutes or accepting another form of S2 time submitted. Good with all of it. Just making light humor of an unavoidable situation.
Rest assured Chipwich, I took it in the context you meant it.
I’m just loving the casual fun of all this and am so glad @Mudcat set this up. I’d have not bought the game without this.
Codemasters owe me commission
Thanks to everyone again, I don’t really get much of a chance to fly with everyone and the one time I did try recently I found out half my equipment was broke. So yay! Only took 5 years to do something with the rest of the community
