I’m feed of being harassed by pop ups asking me to update:
flash player and java…
(computer paranoia but i always fear it’s a phisching programs that ask my permissions to format c: )
anyway i think i still need java. Do I?
But i think i can live happily without Flash!
Just try it. If it turns out you do need it, you can always download and install the most recent version from Adobe directly. Without having to update it all the time until then.
Am now on my pc and just looked it up. I could not remember being bothered for Flash Player updates for quite a while. Turns out I do not have Flash Player installed. I think the most recent Windows re-install was more than 6 months ago, probably a year or more since I had Flash Player.
I haven’t had flash installed for years now.
There are very few things that need it, and so far I always found alternatives.
(Example: some NFL live streams. I just watch those that don’t need it)
It is also full of security holes despite the patches.
I’m working on a lacrosse coaching certification, went to do some online courses in my iPad, and got “yoiur browser doesn’t support Flash” message. So, apparently I’m stuck with it for a while.
It’s long been a security vulnerability, but oddly, if you or your client employs Dell SecureWorks as an SSP, you have to have Flash to use their dashboard. Duoh!
