Elite Dangerous (2020)

So, I did a thing…

@HavlokUK got a few ships transferred over to you- debating bringing one more. I saw you’re jumping somewhere in a few hours?

Nice ride. Is it worth the grind?

Next week. I’m a tied up with work at the mo so don’t really have much time / energy left over for gaming, but next week looks much better. Planning to depart from Lave next Monday morning. So you’ve got a bit of time to tinker before then

Engine note is almost as good as a Clipper’s, and she’s speedy for the size, though I’ve just finished engineering her engines. Handles like an elephant on ice, especially in the pitch axis, but then I was just flying a combat- built Krait II right before. Lots of (cargo) room for activities though, but I think I’m going to lose some of that to fit a proper shield generator (a size 6 ain’t gonna cut it). But I think the current build will work for mining.

Speaking of, what’s the current money-making meta for mining, back to laser mining?

I think the current best money earner is laser mining painite double overlaps. Core mining void opals is also still pretty profitable and a lot less boring. Finding a good price is more challenging though because of the market forces changes.

Logistical question for this carrier exploration voyage:

How will we get tritium to power the ship? Do we have to mine it after each jump? Looking forward to heading out into the black and doing some exploration, just want to make sure everything is kittted out the right way.

It will be helpful to mine some tritium as we go once FDev fix the shortage problem. However, I have stockpiled just about enough tritium for the trip already so if we don’t find any along the way we should still be ok.

Cool, I didn’t know how much that thing would carry.

I was just trying the mining thing for the first time this weekend in a Type 7 I purchased just for the cause. Am doing the Painite thing and I was blown away by how many fleet carriers there were in the system I’m mining from.

Man I love this title in Vr. Just wish there was an easier way to interact with sites like Miner's Tool as I can’t remember the names of these systems and stations as I’m playing half the time.

I get what you mean about not being able to alt+tab out as easily. What ive been doing is firing up the game in 2D and plotting out the rings I want to hit, and bookmarking them using copy paste. Then when I fire up VR the target system has a nice big tag on it for jumping to. Might help you out.

This is your 24 hour warning.
FEI PAW will be departing Lave for the Formidyne Rift in approximately 24 hours.
All Aboard - no return for at least 6 weeks!

FEI PAW is on the move I see. Any idea on how long it’ll take to get to the Rift?

Hopped off the FEI PAW for a quick look around in the Plaa Eurk VX-B C1 system and saw a rather neat looking collection of stars off in the distance.

We’re just arriving at this week’s waypoint - the S171 5 system which is on the edge of the NGC 7822 Nebula. This should make for some interesting views, hopefully. We are about half way between the bubble and the Heart and Soul Nebulae, which sort of mark the beginning of the Rift. The loose plan is something like this, but subject to change:

Week 1: NGC 7822 Nebula
Week 2: Heart and Soul Nebulae
Week 3: somewhere inside the Rift
Week 4: the other side of the Rift, possibly near the Zurara
Weeks 5 - 7ish head back to the bubble maybe via a different route or maybe not.

So if we jump out and grab some exploration data, we should make some serious money

Roger that, sounds like a good plan. Funny how I unknowingly took a picture of this weeks destination lol.

Blimey, I picked an interesting system to park in! 8 stars, a pink HMC planet with purple ring and geological and biological sites. And that’s just what I’ve found in the first 10 minutes. Screenshots coming in a bit.

EDIT: Watch out for the gravity on planet 3 - 3.17g - caught me out but thankfully I’ve got decent shields on my Krait

You guys in a private group or open?

Edit: btw if any of you haven’t been to a astroid station now is a great chance, there is one about 23ly away in NGC 7822 BQ-Y D12

I’m in open but on PS4 So you won’t be able to see me.

You ain’t lying! Haven’t had chance to visit any of the planets yet, but I did pop into SC right after arrival and did a quick scan of the system. Was surprised at the number of planets that where “likely” for bio sites.

I usually fly in open on PC.

Ok, I’m turning in for the night. I’ll explore a bit more tomorrow.

EDIT: Some screenies from around that black hole:

EDIT EDIT: I forgot to post the location of the black hole - it’s in S171 33
