Elite Dangerous (2020)

The Guardian FSD boost is a must. Its one of the few Guardian techs I took the time to get. It adds a flat increase to the range, which I believe is further improved by engineering.

I had planned on being the security, but I don’t know if I would even see you out there. Could also play on private mode once you got a full load. Kind of a work around for not being able to have friends protect you.

Just finished making my way out to the Fei Paw, and judging by the shear number of carriers in system I can only imagine the number of players running around the system in open. Also couldn’t help but notice that the Code has a carrier in system, which I’m sure accounts for some of the mayhem.

Yeah, FC 464 had the highest LTD sell price this morning, so I guess all those carriers that did what we did over the weekend have jumped in to sell, hence the code also turning up.

You might not be able to instance with me, but if others come along who play on PC I’m sure they’ll be glad of some help. I don’t know about on PC, but the mining system was full of PS4 gankers last weekend and I would have been very grateful for an armed and armoured T10 to call on

So you were using lasers to mine LTD? I have only ever done core mining, mainly for void opals 8-9 months ago when the the market was crazy.

Yeah, Clementine (my T9) was optimised for laser mining but after the recent changes to sub-surface deposits I’ve modified her to take advantage of the occasional high yield asteroid too. I also have a core mining Krait that I may put to use next week but the cores around that triple hotspot were pretty mined out, and even in perfect conditions I don’t seem to get the same level of return.

EDIT: Still very much under construction but I will keep the status and itinerary of the FEI PAW up to date here:

EDIT EDIT: A couple of screenshots from last weekend’s mining trip:

And bonus points for anyone who can spot where I spent some time this week in order to be better prepared for next week’s mining session:

I checked that calendar app, which is awesome BTW, are you jumping back to the same system as last weekend? My Python is still at the same ring.

Yes, or one nearby. I need a few cargo loads of diamonds to fund the carrier for a year or two when I head out into the black in a month or two.

EDIT: Well, it looks like the holy grail of ED mining has been found - a Low Temp Diamond quadruple overlap:

It’ll be interesting to see just how effective / profitable it is

So the other day I wanted to progress a little further with the engineers.

I recently discovered Liz Ryder and had to deliver 200 land mines. As it turned out, someone parked the fleet carrier Landmines & Outfitting in orbit of Liz’ home planet which sold land mines. How convenient.

I bought there for 3.4 M. It’s a really clever business plan. Fleet carriers appear in Solo play as well. I wonder if this guy is making a crap ton of credits based on this idea

Pro tip for Liz: Equip some missiles or torpedos before you head down to the settlement so that you can immediately get to grade 3 and unlock the next engineers. I falsely assume I could do this by pinning the blueprint and use remote engineering…

I made my way back to the carrier, it was only about 300 ly away. Luckily my python is fitted with a fuel scoop. When I blanked on LTD’s, I cracked open a couple Alexandrite cores for fun, is there any way to deposit them to you as well? Or at least store them in the carrier?

Yes, I can set up a buy order so you can sell them to the carrier and then I’ll sell them back to you when you want them back. I’ll do that this afternoon. Is it just alexandrite?

EDIT: I’ve set up a buy order for 200% of average market value. That’s about 2/3 of the best price in the bubble at the moment. When you want to buy them back let me know and I’ll set up a sell order, or if you decide you don’t want them back let me know and I’ll … do something with them

Awesome thanks! Yeah I don’t need them, so set a price you can make a little off of it. I plan on doing some serious LTD mining, get you some cash.

I’m thinking it might be worth going a little further afield and trying out the newly discovered LTD4 hotspot. D2EA seems to think it’s worth it:

It’s about 1200 LYs from civilisation so definitely don’t miss the boat back

How does a jump that far work? Do you have to make several or does it go straight there? How much tritium does it use?

Three jumps, and I’m guessing about 600 tonnes of tritium (although I’m not sure how much of an effect carrier weight has on fuel consumption). We certainly have enough - about 19000 tonnes last time I looked .

Anyway, jumping in about 10 minutes (I’ve just got home and have to brew tea and log in etc), so I guess this is your 10 minute countdown until the 15 minute countdown starts?

We’ll do three consecutive jumps so should be about 1 hour travel time. Feel free to explore between jumps but remember that docking access locks down about 5 minutes before each jump.

The target system is Swoilz PK-R B20-0 and the hotspots are in the ring around the first planet - I think.

Cool. I’ll be ready to go, wish we could fly together. Weird that PS4 doesnt show up.

Ok, unsurprisingly the target system is full, so we’ve parked around SWOILZ LE-T B19-0, 12.6 LYs away. We are some way down towards the southern edge of the galaxy here and the stars are quite sparse.

I’m hoping this will change with the release of Odyssee :crossed_fingers:

EDIT: Oh, and we used 590 tonnes of tritium (not a bad guesstimate there!)

Wow you werent kidding. First rock i scanned had LTD’s in it. Great find.

I should have brought subsurface missles, but the mining lasers are doing fine. I can crack a core still too.

Also can you put a Void Opal buy order, found some of those as well. Are they still profitable?
