Power Generators at Wolf Dock in Nyx. Its 5k from the main star so I got good at using the SCO.
I also did Structural Regulators at Foale Terminal in LHS 1212
I believe Wolf dock has 200K Power Gens and Foale has 3k Regulators.
I did it all in a T8 with 368 cargo capacity.
Wolf is a 10LY jump from Minevra
Foale is a 22ly jump from Minevra.
Wolf is 5K plus from the main star.
Foale is 700ls from the Main star.
I was making 2.2 to 2.8 mil a haul.
Unfortunately I always hauled empty from Minevra.
When I was doing the Wolf run I could pick up a transport mission or 2 back to Minevra for some extra income, The kind that doesn’t take any cargo space.
@schurem I’ve got a fleet carrier sitting in Ho Hsi to use for hauling stuff for colonisation. The first thing is to get her fuelled up, if you don’t mind donating some Tritium? I’ve also put a buy order on for CMM composites as they seem to be the hardest resource to find for colonisation, so if you fancy getting started on collecting them then that would be very helpful. We will need at least 5000 units for an initial outpost, and an awful lot more for a proper starport, asteroid base, or ground settlement.
We also need to find a suitable star system to colonise, so if you want to go scouting for options that might be useful?
I’m not sure whether it would be better to pick somewhere quite central in the bubble which could become a good home base for BGS or bubble type play, or somewhere at the edge to help push the boundaries of human space and be a good first port of call when coming in from the black. What do you guys think?
In any case, I think we should look for a system that has plenty of possibilities for stations / settlements, as well as some ringed planets for mining. Pretty planets or stars would be a bonus.
Question, if I got this correctly CMM Composites are only created by surface outposts.
Would it be logical, once we find a system to colonize, to create as a first a Surface outpost so we don’t have to source those from too far outside?
Maybe it’s a bit meta, but before anything else I think we should plan in this way.
making sure we can try to be as independent as possible. At least from the building blocks side of things.
EDIT: I would suggest creating some sort of a Planning Council so we can evaluate the possibilities. Like- no kidding meeting one day in Discord to propose and plan. I am more than willing to put my time down.
No, I honestly think it’s a great idea. The more people involved the more likely we will be to make something that everyone can enjoy working towards. What I’m hoping for is to find a system with a variety of worlds, at least one ring, and hopefully a pretty view to base myself in for the foreseeable future.
Quick update: I managed to get on for an hour or so today where I topped off the Tritium tanks and placed buy orders on the carrier for most of the commodities needed to colonise a system. I also sourced a T9’s worth of goods. It’s a start, at least.
I know it’s cheesy but I loved a lot the book from John Scalzi “Old Man’s War” and especially “The Last Colony” where they colonise a planet with the last colony humans are allowed to have, named Roanoke.
Could we call one of the space stations in our (future) system Roanoke?
Is there a political or otherwise unsavory meaning to it?
As a North Carolina native who’s heard the stories of the Lost Colony my entire life, I’m very much onboard with this.
We could really have a lot of fun with the naming there. Virginia Dare spaceport, Croatan outpost on another planet, etc etc.
No controversy to the name that I’m aware of; Roanoke Island is one of the bigger populated places on the North Carolina coast, and the town of Manteo out there (where the remains of the Lost Colony are) is also the hometown of Andy Griffith.
Yes, we should start with a small outpost to stake the claim, then after that the sky is the limit. If there is a sky in space? The new ice asteroid base looks awesome.
EDIT:
It’s amazing how quickly some in the player base figure out and collate all of this information whenever there is an update. Does anyone have an idea of what we want the economy of our star system to look like?
