Elite: Dangerous - updates!

I’ve been in Colonia pretty much since DW2, except for a quick jaunt to the bubble last month. I can confirm there are some pretty good mining opportunities here. And the view is much better. :star::sunny::sun_with_face::star2:

Alright, I’m on my way to “Colonia” then. Keep the taps flowing.

I’m in my paper-thin, unarmed Explorer-build Phantom. Also, I think building a proper mining vessel like I’d want would need a good bit of engineering, and I have no idea how Colonia is these days- I was one of the first out there when it was just Jacques station.

There are a number of engineers that can buff the most important systems around Colonia, and I found them pretty quick and easy to unlock. The main issue here is finding A-rated modules. I’ve stuck with B- and C- rated modules for some of the less essential kit, though definitely not for the prospector limpets.

Once I sold all my exploration data from DW2 I had a cool 750 million credits to work with. I bought a Type-9 and actually enjoyed optimising it for mining painite. In the Bubble it would just have been a case of A-rate and grade-4/5 engineer everything and you’re done, but having to compromise because of module unavailability and engineer unlocks made it much more fun. More of a challenge.

There are several double painite spots around Colonia as well, so I tend to switch between them every 2 or 3 runs to keep things interesting. And as I said previously, the views are much more varied here, which helps too.

Anyway, it’s just my opinion but I have enjoyed tooling around Colonia more than I did around the Bubble.

Of course, just 2 days after I write about how great it’s been mining painite around Colonia the bottom drops out of the market - current best price is only 186,207 CR! That’s the lowest I’ve seen it in months. :disappointed_relieved:

Drew Wagar has just started a tour covering ED lore. For those interested, you can watch part 1 here:

…and the beta featuring fleet carriers is now live. Not sure how they’re working it, as I’m still halfway across the galaxy and have nowhere near the money to afford one. Let me know if y’all see anything cool.

Since the beta is a shard taken from the main server you can just load it, self destruct and start over in the bubble.
During beta prices are not final so each carrier would probably be a fraction of the real cost so people can explore its functionality.
Nothing from the beta carries over in the stable release.

True. But I’m not sure if I’m interested enough to pay attention to this one or not. Let me know what you think!

Sure! I’m downloading as we speak… Even though I’m using this time to make pixel art for our RPG.
