Elite: Dangerous - updates!

Yes, I would also appreciate a move closer back to the bubble. I am also stuck now in Colonia and I have 3 ships aboard Fei-Paw, including my low jump-range Corvette miner (worth almost $500 million). Having to transfer them back to the bubble would put me out $500 million plus credits.

Getting back closer to the bubble would be very helpful in reducing my losses.

All my ships and stuff are aboard, ready to head out. I am not sure when I can play again (very busy IRL), but I will check the forum every week, for sure.

I’m sorry for you and all other console players, @HavlokUK .

For the rest: you are not as stranded as you think. If I understand correctly, you are in Tir, near Colonia.

The Fleet Carrier Owner’s Club Discord server has a “hitchhiker’s” part where Fleet Carrier owners announce their voyages between Colonia and the Bubble, for others to join.

Checking there now, it appears that two carriers will be departing to the Bubble from Tir this week:

Tir > Quayeb
2022, March 18th. 20:00 in-game time from Tir
(VANG) Marsein (H7H-25H). CMDR Prins Hugo
Shipyard, Outfitting and all Concourse shops.
See #265-vang-marsein_prins-hugo
I will try to visit all new stations and megaships along the Colonia Bridge. If update 11 is pushed to next week I will reschedule my jumps.

FCOC Colonia Shuttle Service
Colonia > Bubble
14 Mar. 0830 in-game time from Tir
Sleeper Service (H2T-LHV). CMDR JonAltriani.
Shipyard and Outfitting
Layover at Collection of Wonders. Arrives Bubble 15 March

@Freak Thanks so much for sharing this information.

@HavlokUK I have secured passage to the bubble on another transport vessel. I didn’t want to be in your way and costing you if I had another very easy way back.

My ships and modules are fully off-board.

Sorry about the situation for you and all console CMDRs. A salute to you and the Fei-Paw for taking me along on this great journey.

Working on securing my own passage back to the Bubble now, and took the opportunity to poke around the former Fei Paw a little while ago. I hate to see things end like this, but thank you @HavlokUK for bringing us along on this adventure while you could.

I wish I could’ve made it aboard at some point but the timing never worked out. I definitely appreciate @HavlokUK for operating the carrier, regardless, as I know those things aren’t cheap to run. The whole situation is pretty unfortunate, I do have to wonder how much longer they’ll support the PC side now.

Thanks for the images. I’m hoping FDev will arrange for us to transfer our accounts over to PC. I do have a PC account which I picked up for free when it was on special offer. Then I would just need to invest in suitable hardware to run it. If all that comes to pass I might look recommission FEI PAW. It’s been fun in the meantime, though.

Oh great. Elite is dead.
Again.
It’s been essentially dead for ten years…

In a sense it was almost stillborn. I was head over heels with it in the early days, first year. But FDVEV consistently went the opposite direction of what I would prefer them to do with the game.

Powerplay was bs. Close quarters combat was bs. Fleet carriers are, imo, meh. Space legs are bs. About the only thing they did that made, imo, the game better was the planetary landings with horizons and the scanning stuff.

And what I answer to those with your opinion is - I can imagine why you feel like that. Your opinion IS valid. But personally so.
That doesn’t make a game dead.

It’s selling like hot cakes, has a great player count and what’s more important still full in development after 10 years.

Want to see a dead game? I can name a few…

I never said it was dead, just posted the video as i find i like his content.
Wasnt meant to upset or antagonise.

Nono wait. No.

It’s not about what you said or posted.

I mean: in a way it is, but indirectly! It’s just that video, as many other content creators use clickbaiting titles.
And many more on the ED forums do the same.

So at a certain point, I’m just rolling my eyes at the doom&gloom of a game that a lot of those who just don’t get it claim “oh, this time is dead for sure!”, “wait, now it’s dead”, “waaaait… One more months…”, etc etc.

Which is different from what @schurem said, if the game isn’t for him I can TOTALLY understand.

I found almost each addition to the game absolutely mind blowing.

Powerplay is just a bit too time consuming but still is an interesting layer…

I don’t even play elite, just enjoy watching its development track play out.

I think it’s obvious that ED has a decent amount of life left in it. Odyssee certainly had a rocky start but I have no doubt that FDev will keep expanding on it in a similar way to the way they did with Horizons, and despite a dip in player numbers and share price they still have a solid base of supporters who are enjoying the game. I hope it continues for some time.

My decision to decommission FEI PAW was more a practical decision then an emotional one. With all the new content being developed for Odyssee alone I had to admit that I will likely not be playing wth the kind of commitment that it takes to maintain a fleet carrier. Half the fun of ED is being able to join in personally with ongoing developments and from now on unfortunately I will not be able to do so. It’s been very nice to have my own home base but the cost is not inconsiderable.

I am not going to delete my account in protest or rage-quit or anything else daft like that. I will probably log on every so often just to do a bit of mining or bounty hunting. But I have to admit that the way ED has developed has not been to my liking, and being excluded from any further developments does leave a slightly bad taste in my mouth.

This is of course just my opinion, and I hope I don’t sound like I’m whining. It does feel like the end of something good, though. Sad :pensive:

As I said for @schurem and @Victork2 - I respect all opinions that are voiced so reasonably and sincerely, so trust me I think no ill of you!

I’m in fact awfully sorry Frontier decided to stop development on console…

As am I, and I respect how loyal you remain to FDEV, despite the, ummm, questionable design decisions they took over the years.

One of the reasons I tend to get bitter about E:D is that it’s such a marvellous bit of software. The sheer scale of it, the soundscape, the visuals, the UI design and the basic gameplay are all out of this world imo. This thing brimmed with potential and instead of doing atmospheres and biospheres they fiddled with fake politics and an arcade game nobody wanted.

Well that sounds overly harsh to me, but look at it from the bright side; at least its a game you can actually play on PC.
Dreams and ambition are great but can also be quite crippling. Star Citizen and Dual Universe anyone?

While I am also in the group of players that can only play Elite for a set period before the ‘been there, done that’ feeling starts creeping up on me again, I do recognise the game as an impressive feat of modern gaming.

I feel sorry for our console Cmdrs, but I also hope Elite is now freed of the technical limitations preventing the bigger push forward on PC now.
Time will tell.

I would like again to thank you for having carried around my ships all this time ^-^

Thanks to a previous post I found a Taxi service done with Carriers so I have now my ticket home.
So, no hard feelings, I really hope you’ll find a way to play again/more.

Tomorrow night I’ll move my ships from the FEI PAW, I’ll do a fly by in your honour by the control tower…

@HavlokUK I’ll be transferring off tonight, EDT - if anybody’s looking for a lift back, next carrier back to the bubble is scheduled for 28 March.
