So- back in the bubble… it’s such a weird feeling.
Over twenty thousands light years away…
Makes my head spin.
Where are you planning on basing out of? I’ve thought about relocating to Shinrarta, but don’t want to deal with all the gankers.
I play in solo and Shinrarta is just fine.
We can make a private group and it would be fine as well.
EDIT: yeah to answer your question actually- I do plan to return to Shinrarta.
It’s my home- I find my solace there and I have massive discounts (well just like… 2% to 5%? something like that).
Been on a massive exploration journey, 4000 ly out from Achenar. One my way back now, 135 jumps left to go. Hoping this journey nets me Elite in exploration.
Every 25th or so Jump I land on a planet and stretch my legs.
Absolutely brilliant…
Amazing! I need to dust off my ship and get back into ED.
I was shooting up Thargoid scouts when I got sidetracked.
OMG: I have to go there!
That’s beautiful.
Reading the comment it looks like a gas giant has to be eclipsing the star to get this effect on an ammonia world
Yeah, tell me about it. Just when I think I am over ED and not going back the YouTube algorithm throws me something spectacular and I’m tempted to dive back in.
I know right?!
Welp, 300 jumps totaling roughly 6000 lightyears over all, and I am planning another exploration trip, Still need more data to get elite apparently!
I’m not sure how far I am. I did the Sag A trek and a few 3-5000LY trips, but it doesn’t sound from your experience that I’m all that close.
I haven’t made the Sag A trek yet.
I believe you need to make roughly 320mil off exploration data, either turning in planets or VIP passenger missions.
Im sitting at about 182 mil off Exploration data. This last trip netted me 57.8 mil. I have always traveled away from the center of the galaxy, this time I plan to travel towards.
However I might use the old road to riches planner, found HERE
I honestly hate grinding exploration. I cant wait to get Elite, move my crap to Jameson Memorial and then just pick a random spot and jump out to it and explore just that area.
My advice is don’t. I got Elite ranking after completing the DW2 expedition. At the end of that expedition I had had enough of exploring because it had begun to feel like a grind. But looking back on it I think that was because I was too focussed on rushing back in order to cash in my data. If I had slowed down a bit and not been so mechanical about scanning the valuable stuff as efficiently as possible then moving on I would have enjoyed the trip far more. I would probably have seen more interesting stuff and I would still have made Elite when I got back in the end.
What I learned: Better to focus on enjoying the journey rather than getting to the destination as fast as possible. At least that’s how I see it.
And for what it’s worth, getting access to Jameson Memorial isn’t all that. I only go there when working on new ship builds if I can’t be bothered to shop around for parts. That whole system in open is basically a PVP slaughter house.
It allready feels grindy to me. However thats because i want a Kriat Phantom. I had one on xbox but i built a new pc a few yeara back and switched to PC. I have enough to buy the Kriat but I hate wondering around the galaxy finding parts.
I might let it sit a day or 2 and come back and enjoy an exploration.
Daft question time…
I’m a backer of ED and have the lifetime pass of upgrades, I played a lot of ED and then dabbled in Horizons a bit. Left it for a few years and now I’ve finally decided to jump back on with the Odyssey expansion.
When I left it last, CMDR Keets was somewhere outside of the bubble. When I click Start, I should be on my Anaconda in the black, however it seems to put me on foot, on a planet in an awful pancake VR view and it looks like I’ve a scripted mission to do.
I’m confused.
Where my Anaconda? Where am I? How the heck do I get back to my ship and continue exploration without all this space legs missions stuff. I just want the nice VR view with the updated graphics.
Any help much appreciated. #nolegsgoodspacelegsbad
I think you go through a on foot tutorial and then go to the real thing.
As I understand (non VR player, non-owner)… The VR doesn’t work in on-foot segments of play. Once you complete the initial tutorial, and get loaded into where your previous save left off, from what I hear the VR should be working in the ship seat view.
If I’m mistaken, someone please correct me here.
