That’s correct.
Thanks all. It confused me as in all previous iterations of ED, tutorials are optional. I never do them in any game.
I’ll see if there’s a way to skip it. If I have to complete this before I get back to my ship, it’s going to be a ball ache.
Edit: there is… hit escape and click Skip. No idea why I didn’t try this yesterday. Doh
There was a Proteus Wave?
Seriously, I’m sorry I missed it, but I’ve felt oddly disconnected from ED since it began to feel like it was losing momentum.
I had hoped that something would happen to lure me back into the black!
Im waiting to transfer my profile from console over to PC, whenever that actually happens. Until then its just not worth it.
Yeah, I don’t blame you in your case!
I had always had a hope that ED would eventually be everything that was promised, with ship interiors and spacewalks and all sorts of stuff.
But, it’s always so hard to take something that’s made to be X and then somehow add in Y…without basically starting from scratch.
I’ve enjoyed ED, and am glad it was released. I don’t know if it’s going to be bought by someone or what is going to happen, but right now I just have this weird “wait and see” attitude.
What do you think about this? I’m not sure if I’m convinced or if it’s like that yanni / laurel auditory illusion. Let me know what you think:
For any console players who are interested in moving to PC, the transfer process opens today:
I’m glad they are offering this, but I still feel like we are going too and have already lost a sizable chunk of the community.
Yeah, I think they really either shot themselves in the foot or have decided that this experiment is winding down, and we are seeing them start to turn off the lights.
Unfortunate, if that’s the case.
Thanks @adlabs6
I will certainly be doing this, though I still have some fiddling to do with my rig before it’s ED ready. Maybe next month
Hey guys, I’m back in The Black!
So, I did get around to porting my account over to PC and I’ve spent the last week optimising graphics settings from the pile of the automatic algorithm handed me to silky smooth prettiness. I have to say I’m impressed with the performance of my RTX3070 which seems to be able to run Odyssey at maxed graphics settings at 1080p without even breaking a sweat. Literally, temps below 60C and frame rate locked at 60, even with 1.5x supersampling. Given everything reported about poor optimisation I was expecting to have to compromise somewhere.
Anyway, FEI PAW is also back and ready to go exploring!
Except she’s not ready at all. Selling and then repurchasing, and of course adding some new Odyssey services too, has left her pretty slim on fuel and also funds. So She’s parked up orbiting Ogmiusitou 7 inside the rather spectacular rings in order to stock up on Tritium.
So if anyone want’s to make a quick bit of mining cash pop on over to Ogmiusitou 7 (we’re currently buying Trit at 60k/Tn). Once we’re stocked up on fuel I’ll probably do a couple of cargo runs to generate operating capital (maybe to Rackham’s Peak) before heading out into The Black for some exploration!
o7 Commanders
Ah man, great to see you’re still at it! This semester has been kicking my tail something terrible in general, but I’m hoping I can squeeze some time in before things start hitting the fan (pretty much literally) next month!
I really should fire this up again. I have over 1K hours invested but haven’t played for over a year now… I couldn’t even tell you where I’m docked without logging in
I thought I had made it once I was able to afford a pimped out Anaconda, but the FEI PAW looks right fancy. Is that one of those carrier thingies I’ve heard about?
SS Plissken registration S-NAKE, same Commander name as I use here, so if you ever see me around, please be kind
Nice
Pleased to meet you @Harry_Bumcrack
Yup. She costs an arm to buy, a leg to outfit, and a kidney each week to operate, but makes travelling outside the bubble so much easier and safer that it’s good value. I tend to post here whenever I’m planning a trip and everyone is welcome to come along. It’s usually a mix of exploration and mining with weekly(ish) changes of location. It can be a nice focal point for some community gaming
Nice to meet you too.
My main game was exploration, but rather than heading inwards I always made a trek out to the rim. I figured everyone was heading to Sagittarius A, so thought I would do something different… Got so sick of hearing it I turned off “scooping” and “frame shift drive activating”
I would love to join you, but time zones might be against us? I live at the arse end of the world (Australia). On the plus side I have no problem with open play because when I’m active all the gankers in the Northern Hemisphere have been told by their parents that it is time for bed
I did a spot of mining today. I was mainly looking for Tritium to fuel FEI PAW but I also hit an amazing run of 7 core asteroids one after the other in a smallish area in the rings of Ogmiusitou 7. I’ve never been quite that lucky before and it ended up in a pretty nice haul (see below). Total mining time approximately 2 hours or so plus a bit of mucking around with NPC pirates. Enjoy:
I got this one a bit wrong and blew half of the good stuff to smithereens! Oh well …
A nice haul for my first time back in a while:
Heading home:

I’ll try to fire up ED this weekend, head out that way, and do some mining. Glad to have you back @HavlokUK!
