Event Horizon Telescope

I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I heard about the EHT about two years ago. I am always excited about new discoveries and technology concerning space, astronomy etc and as with LIGO this just blows my mind.
The fact that we’re able to observe the event horizon of a black hole in another galaxy 55m ly away is amazing

Just FYI that SgrA* image is just a computer simulation of what it might look like ( although it’s probably pretty close to the final image). As I understand this SgrA* is much harder to image because of all the matter that’s between us and the galactic core of the milky way, whereas one of the poles of M87* is almost pointing directly towards the milky way so it’s much easier to get a clear view of it.
