F-14 Tomcat Demo

My first F-14 demo was at MacDill, AFB in Tampa. My oldest son was only a couple months old at the time. I’d seen documentaries on the Tomcat and knew about the Gulf of Sidra incident. Also on a couple rare occasions back home when the Navy came to town a few Tomcats would buzz the airport in two-ship formation then climb into the vertical and peel off towards the horizon.

Man, I’ll tell you it wasn’t until MacDill did I realize that the Tomcat is a beast. Talk about thunder in the skies. I think the most impressive maneuvers were the max-G circle turn, high-speed pass, and the double Immelman. I remember being in awe how something so big could be so maneuverable.

The tomcat will forever be one of my faves.
