Gotta keep the kibble handy…
I wonder if Working Title has SimBrief integration planned for the CJ4, or others. Flight planning is my least favorite and most tedious part of sim flying at the moment. Had I not 3 kids and 2 companies to look after during a pandemic, I’d probably enjoy it I guess retirement, provided my wife lets me before I pass, has some benefits I haven’t yet considered.
I’ve not tried it but do have a vague memory that the C4J mod does indeed have simbrief integration already.
Right you are Wikifrog
Custom developed and implemented a flight plan import directly from Simbrief via the FMS, allowing users to spawn without a flight plan, then load a Simbrief OFP/Flight Plan directly over the web (requires internet connection); this feature also makes it easier to fly multiple legs without exiting the simulation session

Ah, that reminds me - someone very usefully put the exact A320NX profile needed for Simbrief weights and performance calcs for the aircraft we have simmed. You just click it and it’ll add it to your Simbrief available aircraft. It’ll appear as ‘A20N - A320NEO FBW’ as a selection under ‘Aircraft Type’.
Click here if you are signed in at simbrief.com.
Found via the homepage of GitHub - flybywiresim/aircraft: The A32NX & A380X Project are community driven open source projects to create free Airbus aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator that are as close to reality as possible.
I, unironically, would really like this feature (it’s not available as yet), especially in VR - it’s a pain to get ATIS etc and then have to skip around the MCDU entering figures.
Of course, then we’ll need a wee wastebin to fill up and empty.
Think of the trees
I used the METAR message system a lot during the Xmas flight, but wrote down on my iPad all the necessary when the message came in.
I know the guys like simulating all the systems, but not sure how much I’d use this.
It’s not like it’s real paper, it’s more a white graphic box that you can pick up in VR and then acts as a way to not have to tap them into the iPad and then into something else. I can’t see anything in VR so having some virtual helpers like this sounds good.
MSFS could really do with Avitab. Asobo have some plans for this, but it’s taking too long. (insert your own Veruca Salt gif now )
Ok, MCDU printer is here in main release branch - will try it out soon. Will be very useful in VR.
I’m actually on a long haul random ish trip. I started from Vancouver and my aim is to end up in the UK for when about the MSFS UK/Ireland update arrives (a couple of weeks I think?). I’ve made stops in Calgary and now Ottawa, so the plan is head for Halifax, then Reykjavík, Iceland and then maybe on to Scotland from there. I sort of cheat by leaving the sim running on the longer stretches rather than sit in VR like a pillock watching nothing at FL370. It feels a bit weird, as I’ve never done long (ish) haul sim trips before, but c’est la vie.
Ottawa needs the icing equipment running when at the gate.
Is there a mod that pauses the sim at top of descent? I know some modules for X-Plane or P3D had that option…would be useful…
That would be nice. Actually, a properly calculated TOD would be good too .
The in-built ATC is really late, so I have to step down in 10,000 ft intervals at the usual X3 ballpark (FL370 = 37 x 3 = 111 miles, with say add 10 because it annoying steps down (you have to wait at FL270 before it wakes up and clears you to 17,000 ft etc).
If I use VATSIM then I’m more concerned if changing airspace and being booted off because I’m watching Ted Lasso (excellent btw) in another room.
Not often I have to Google something…I had no idea that existed!
Just finished the first season, and probably the most enjoyable TV we’ve seen in years - really recommended, I think you’ll love it.
OMG…the trailer is hilarious. As a soccer dad with soccer kids (the kids are now on “travel teams” god help me…4 days a week of different practice schedules)…I wonder what age could watch this series?
Not for kids for sure. Not unless they curse like pirates already.
They might have learned a word or two from Daddy. I’m a Libra. Not prone to curse. But a 10 and 12 year old bring out the worst in me.
Finally got around to trying this. I couldn’t do much in VR, because I’m fiddling around with old drivers and the sim kept crashing (Note to self: Just don’t).
So yeah, works like you would expect. Get to a AOC page you want to remember, hit ‘Print’ on the McDu.
You just hover over the printed paper, it says ‘Collect Paper’ and then puts it in a handy location:
Killing trees like there is literally no tomorrow.
A stack of papers allows you to ‘Go Previous/Next’ just by hovering over them.
Neat, and actually useful!
EDIT: Works fine in VR, although you have to lean in a bit, Magoo style.

Ok, went down a bit of a rabbit hole tonight, but thought I’d share. Hope I’m not posting too much about this one.
Updated to the dev latest of the mod, started it up and see this on my left:
A new iPad! I can play Angry Birds?
Before I swear it looked like an empty cradle, like the poor FO has right over there by their window:
So yes, it is new - cool! Anyway, I tap it, touch it, stroke it, like a caveman seeing fire for the first time and don’t manage to turn it on. I took a look at the mod site, where they keep the code, and there’s lots of references to the EFB, which I take is the…
Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) - flyPad
After a bit of fiddling around I worked out that you can access the feature, but the mod devs have so far not enabled it in cockpit. These shots are from the dev version via a test console, and I hope I’m not going to upset people by showing them. Lots of cool features so far.
Main Dashboard page, showing MCDU linked up and some nice local METAR
Dispatch screen, with some model info
The Loadsheet, brought in from Simbrief I imagine - very useful, especially in VR!
The Ground helper page, with stuff I’ve really been looking forward to - shortcuts to common calls that need to be made via the radio in a way that’s a bit clumsy.
The rest of the panels were blank or I had set them up wrong.
It all looks great, and really a good in-progress feature. I hope they get to the state to enable in cockpit as there’s lots in here that will help a regular 320NX flyer.
